While I have typically worked in a dental clinical setting for most of those years I have always put my patient first and their specific needs as my priority. While in high school I did obtain my CNA license but went a different educational path from nursing to receiving my Dental Assisting certification. I hold a current CPR/AED for BLS Skills for a professional rescuer. Proficiency in medication management. As well as SPICE certified per OSHA guidelines. While I loved the field and found it rewarding I also found that a work/life balance was not able to be reached. My son, who is autistic, has been a big motivator in my switching of careers. He has taught me more patience and understanding of people with diverse needs. Between my work experiences and personal needs of family and friends, I've spent most of my life as a caregiver. I raised two special needs children of my own while attending to my aging parents, including my mother with dementia. Shortly after the passings of my parents, I was the caregiver for my husband who eventually succumbed to COPD. On a volunteer basis, I've provided end-of-life care and post operative assistance.
