I am empathetic, compassionate, nurturing, attentive, dependable, committed, organized, happy, patient, honest, industrious, quiet, energetic, conscientious, clean and kind.
As a child, I was always in the company of older folks in my community - so much so, that when I was 17 years old I took care of a 76 years old family friend on the weekends for 3 months while still in high school. I was always running to assist them when the need arises. The elderly comes first for me all the times.
I was a volunteer at my church's Assisted Living Facility for 5 years, helping the residents with grooming, dressing, feeding, exercises and just general companionship - chatting and making them happy and joyful.
I just have this natural passion and respect for them and humanity in general. I enjoy the satisfaction that engulfs me when I perform a task that they might feel a little embarrassed about but, because of the manner in which it was done, (privacy, respect) they just looked at me and say thank you so much, Joan or just smile confirming satisfaction. I also feel ecstatic and encouraged when family members and friends use words like - "Joan, you are the best" "you are a God-send", "you are special", "Joan, I could never do what you do". and you do your work with such professionalism.
I am very proud that, through hard work and commitment to serve , I have gained the trust and respect of all seniors I have met and cared for.
I am a great caregiver because, I am compassionate, trustworthy, dependable, i am a great listener, i am a people person, and i respect their religion and their political status.
I become a caregiver back in 1985, i know that caring is my passion so i went ahead and got certified as a CNA, HHA, & PCA.
I become a caregiver simply because i offer love, undivided attention and great companionship.
What i like mostly about being a caregiver is definitely the opportunity to express my passion directly to my clients.
i get first hand to help them look and feel better about themselves, because i am also a licensed Esthetician and nail technician,
so i give them manicures and pedicures, partial foot massage (if they are not diabetic) i give a relaxing facial too. I apply makeup and
shampoo and roller set hair if they so desire.
I have a few personal achievement that i am proud of, but the one that stands out to me, is the day i got my Certificate in the mail
and got hired in an Assisted Living Facility.
Over all i have great experience and superb references. Looking forward to working with you or your love one.
I am a great caregiver because I sincerely enjoying working with elderly people, and people with disabilities. The experience I have in caring for your loved one is: Compassion, companionship, patience, home management, meal preparation, errands, appointments, grocery shopping, medication reminders, maintaining a safe environment, assisting with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
I am very passionate, and committed about what I do, as I feel the importance to treat seniors, the way I will one day want to be treated. Having empathy.
I enjoy learning from the seniors I have been with, talking with them, and hearing their stories. Many of times, its never been a dull moment. I know the importance of a senior keeping their independence for as long as they can. Also, it's important to maintain their confidentiality, and be aware of their rights. I became a caregiver when I started taking care of an elderly great aunt.
