Hello! I've been a CNA for over 7 years now. I also have been doing home care for almost 2 years. I love working in the medical field. I prefer home care over the nursing facilities however. I love the 1 on 1 time I get to spend with my clients.

I have 21 years experience working with the senior population. I have experience in many different facets of the industry including : CNA, med manager, activity director, admissions, home care case manager and memory care director. I have a criminal justice degree, management experience, a NY CNA certificate (17 yrs), and I recently graduated from school for my LPN, I have not taking the state exam yet, but will very soon. I have all my immunizations, psychology courses completed along with a First Responder course completed. I have worked in a 120 bed nursing home, this med surge unit and have done home care, for a few people. I managed medicines, looking for side effects, lab values, range of motion, I have experience with dementia/ Alzheimer's, bipolar, depression, aggressiveness, hearing losses/aids, incontinence, wheelchairs, hoyer/stand lifts, ambulation, personal care, dressing, working with physicians and families on creating plans of action to ensure safety, emotional wellness, and physical needs are being entertained. i am 36 i been care giving since i was 25 well actually all my life my mom died at age 3 and i was the only girl so i help take care of the boys i got a older brother who has learning disabilities who i help care for and in return i learned to have passion for the care for others its my heart and soul i love to serve others it makes me feel rewarded a since of fulfillment i guess. i am selfless as to where i always think of others and put them before myself as for this just job i feel its so good for me do to the great amount of empathy i have towards others.i have never been late and always worked when asked even if its a double i love honest that works both ways. i do however get attached easily and start to love my clients like family and i am very open with them and share everything this is good and bad because at that point i am not separating work for personal life but with this kind of work its hard. i did go to school to become a medical assistant and did graduate top of my class and with a perfect attendance but i really like one on ones not to much into the doctors offices.

1 why did I become a caregiver....I was a caregiver way before I became certified I think I was 13 when I started caring for people its in my nature to help because I love it. it makes me feel good I can help someone that cant help themselves 2 what do I like about being a caregiver....I like helping people I like learning about the person because everybody is different there stories there history where they came from rich/poor how they got to where they are what they use to do 3 what is my personal achievement that I am proud of .....I would say my CNA CERT because the first time I tried to do the training I ended up with pneumonia so I tried it again got all the way to the testing part and ended up late started early but ended up behind a school bus in the middle of winter and made me late so I was failed so tried a 3rd time and passed at the top of my class with 100% 4 tell something about myself ....I started out in factory work and hated it wanted something that was always changing something that I could grow with so in 1995 I took myself and a friend to an agency to do there HHA training and passed and in Nov of 2012 took a CNA training and passed I would like to go to school for dental assisting next or massage therapy

My strongest attribute is compassion, patience, and humility. Growing up, I was influenced by my maternal grandmother, who was a Missionary in the Church of Jesus Christ. She would bring strangers to our home all the time, especially during holidays. I learned how you can change a person's mood & life, just by being compassionate. This in itself, attracts me to showing humanistic qualities, and I enjoy making others feel a sense of worth. I have had many struggles of my own in life, too many to name one, as they were all a journey of achievements. Notably, I was the US Navy and survived Dessert Storm from 1988-1992. Some of the affect of being in the service qualified my as a disabled veteran. But it never stopped me from developing my skills as a caregiver.
