Experience caregiver having over 10 years working with various clients. I guess you could say my life could be encapsulated in four simple words faith, family, friends, and helping others! I have worked in Home Health both in nursing homes as well as memory care facilities for over 10 years. I love helping people, I also feel that in some ways this is my ministry even though it is my part-time job. I have experience in memory care, ADL's, transfer assist, gait training, lighthouse keeping, meal prep, companionship, and bathing and grooming, I have dependable transportation and arrive to work on time and don't miss days unless I am ill. I am normally very healthy, and I insist on cleanliness and am constantly washing my hands. I would like to think I am extremely cautious in keeping both myself safe as well as you. I've had extensive training in HIPAA and sanitation. After retiring from Health and Human Services caregiving became my passion. I'm a very conscientious and hard worker and yet I still remain cheerful throughout the day. I also am a Certified Activities Director so I feel like I bring a little more than just caregiving. I believe that seniors need daily activities to stay happy and healthy and if possible to be a part of their day-to-day activities and have a purpose. If the senior is capable and able to water plants or assist with meal prep I encourage that. I have been a nurse for over 30 years and was a nursing home nurse so I have patience and experience with with many levels of care. I am an outgoing, compassionate person who loves to be around elderly and help them with their daily task! I became a caregiver because I always loved and enjoyed getting my uncle who was down syndrome smile, that enjoyment on his face was everything to me! I love just talking about their memories and what they love/use to do, love looking at photo albums with them and just seeing that love and joy on their face is why i continue to love being their companion.

When I completed high school I went to college not knowing what I wanted to do for a job. I saw that my cousin who has Down Syndrom could not communicate with my family very well as she could not speak. When starting college I took sign language to communicate with my her. This became my joy and I loved helping children and Adults with mental and physical disabilities in their home and in the community. I strive to be able to listen and understand each person's needs and wants with caring and compassion for each person. I have worked with all ages and a range of disabilities including but not limited to, Scoliosis, Down Syndrom, ALS and Alzhelmer's.
