I've been in the service for 27 years now. I have a child with disability, and I learned a lot from him in regard to assisting and helping him. That motivates me helping the elderly people. I also like gardening and outdoor recreations.

I am a mother first and foremost. I love helping those who are incapable or who need some assistance with doing for themselves. I have been in the healthcare field going on 10 years and I love it! From the interactions, daily activities, smiling faces I get from patients brightens up my day! I strive for patients to be satisfied highly with the work I've helped them do. It lets me know I'm doing something right!

My personal traits is to provide excellent care, companionship, listening and special care services that is needed as required. I'm attracted to being a caregiver because as we get older, special care and attention is needed to take care of our loved ones. I enjoy seeing that smile and look on their faces when I come to the house. Hello my name is Maria I am bilingual fluent in Spanish and English. My mother inspired me to be a caregiver, she lost her eyesight due to diabetes and other health problems leaving me in charge of her health care for 12 years which included meal prepping a very restrictive diet, day to day chores, medication reminders, doctor appointments etc. Being a patient and caring person helped my mother when she was down. Years later I had the privilege to do patient care at a liposuction center where I realized that helping people is my calling and what I love to do.

I have been in the medical field since 1999. I have worked in Homecare, Rehab, Hospital and Office settings. I have specialized in Memory Care, Rehabilitation, Spinal cord injuries and Early Childhood Education. I especially enjoy Homecare settings where I can delivery optimal and comfortable care, companionship and assistance to those whom require/ desire these services. Along with my HHA certification, previous CNA license/ experience I have current BLS, and Drivers License and dependable transportation. It's never a dull moment when you put people in your own hands and they trust you whole heartedly. I'm honest,trustworthy and very easy going. I want to keep my clients safe and comfortable. I definitely wanted a change in occupation besides retail and fast food. So my best friend suggested how about caregiving. I thought it would be fun and I was right. I have fun with my clients and want them to know that I don't think of them as a number but a friend that they can trust. I have learned that you have to think fast because there could be an emergency less than a second. Being very patient and don't panic in that moment. I have been a caregiver for over 30 years and enjoy working with people and being part of their lives. I ran a retirement home as an assisted-living director and ran the dining room and started the Alzheimer's unit. I have been working with home health agencies and also at facilities and enjoy doing activities with the residence and seeing people smiling and laughing because most of them do not have families that come and visit them so basically we are their family. I enjoy being a caregiver and being in their homes because then you get to be one on one with them which makes caregiving more personable and it's a blessing that most of them can stay in their homes. Being a caregiver is not a talent or something that you can be trained on it's mostly what's in your heart and knowing that the elderly need good people to take care of them and One day we are going to be in the position where we will need someone to take care of us so knowing that there are good caregivers out there it just makes it easier on the family to take care of their loved one.
