My name is Maria Dozier, am a 43 year old Hispanic educated woman. I've been married 18yrs and have been with my husband for almost 26 yrs. We have 3 beautiful children ages 25, 17 and 12. I live my life for my children and making sure that they are taken care of and brought up correctly. We moved to Santa Fe, NM almost 11 yrs ago. Til now I hadn't looked for work because I needed to be at home with my children. But now that their getting older I'd like to have a job. I have perfect transportation and am very reliable. I speak Spanish and English and am very resourceful and respectful when it comes to patient confidentiality.

My name is Ashley and I moved here from California in 2013. I have had a passion for takiing care of people for as long as I can remember. Recently I graduated with my Associates in Allied health, and am also pursuing my BSN in Nursing. My goal is to graduate with a Bachelors in Nursing, but to also get the most valuable experience related to my education that I can get through personal caregiving. My name is Sherl Rehn and I moved to Santa Fe from Boston on September 8, 2007. I worked as a independent contractor and a personal assistant for a woman in Cambridge Massachusetts and other individuals in the Greater Boston Area. When I came to Santa Fe I joined Westminster Presbyterian Church and work for several of the church members. One of my clients had MS and I worked with him for a little over a year and until he need more intense care. I also worked with a woman who need personal care after a botched therapy. I took her to physical therapy appointments, to the store and did house and yard-work. In 2009 I became employed with Comfort Keepers as a Caregiver and eventually a Scheduler. I chose this line of work because I have so much compassion in my heart for those who are elderly, disabled, marginalized and disenfranchised members within our community and society as a whole. I love the elderly because I feel they all have an amazing story to tell and also have a lot to teach us if we would only listen to them. To me they are such precious individuals that live throughout the world. I took a semester off of school to deal with family issues and will be return summer semester to complete my final 13 credits of my Senior Year at New Mexico Highlands University. It is my plan to enter an Masters of Social Work program at an online University in the fall of this year.

It feels highly rewarding knowing you're changing the life of those in need of assistance. My passion for this started after the passing of my dad, I wished I could've done more to help him in the stages he needed to gain in-dependability to get better. Later my grandpa was admitted into hospice care and I had the chance to care for him everyday. After, it sparked the idea to get back to school and follow a path I was really passionate about. I began to go to school for nursing assistance. I then accepted a training position where I had 100+ hours of training. Caring for the elderly gives you a lot of great perspective. While working with this demographic, you begin to really value your time with them. The mutual respect that you can develop with the aging population is truly special.
