Hi! I've been an RN for 26 yrs. I LOVE caring for others and all that comes with being a nurse. I'm not necessarily looking for high-tech, intensive nursing right now. I'm more interested in getting out of the house to be of use to someone who needs some assistance at home or out in the community. Our 3 sons are grown and out on their own now. I've been home for a couple years, caring for my husband who is a traumatic brain injury survivor, so if you need help, I'll RUN out the door. I have a great sense of humor, am joyful and have a deep sense of faith. I'm loyal, compassionate, detail-oriented, punctual, honest and hard-working. I love pets, crafting in my free time and New England Patriots fan! I love to organize and then reorganize as a hobby. For me, being a caregiver isn't just a career. It's my calling in life. I feel as though it's what I was put here to do. My very first job at age 18 was as a caregiver for a lady with MS. I cared for her as a live in for nearly three years with one day off weekly. I then moved to direct care for disabled individuals and have accumulated several years experience. I am certified in first aid/ CPR, medication administration, insulin trained, and have a wide path of experience to fall back on. I was also caregiver for my mother for five years until she passed from ALZ. I am currently attending college studying Human and Social Services to better provide for those I work with and for. I believe that being a caregiver requires a special individual, just as special as those I care for. I have always felt that the individuals I have met and worked with have each been a blessing in their own way and I am the lucky one for having them in my heart and life. I became a caregiver because its my passion to take care of others. The best part of being a caregiver is that making sure the person that can't take of themselves are well taken care. The personal achievement is when they thank you so much for coming and so happy you are there to take of them. I am 28 years old. I am have never been married and I don't have any kids. When I was a stay at home mom, my mother became seriously ill, it was then when I decided to become a Certified Nurse's Aide. My husband and I moved in with my parents so I could give around the clock care for my mother until she passed in '07. I then worked in a Hospital for only a few months and decided that kind of enviornment just wasn't for me. Since then I have been working in Nurseing Homes and love the feeling of family and friends, there is a feeling of closeness, respect, and love I develope for my patient/resident that I personally cherish, and helping others in a loveing and careing way.
