I was raised up caring for people beginning in my own family. At the nudging of my mother, I became an LVN in 1985. After the passing of my father, I neglected to keep my LVN license current but remained in the field of caring. I enjoy helping others accomplish their day as well as family members observing positive change in a homebound loved one. I have a long history in caring which include but not limited to, psych care, dementia, hearing and vision impairment, physical disabilities and so on. I take my work seriously and respect individuals for who they are as well as what they may be going through.

What are your personality traits or expertise that help you be a great caregiver? I am a compassionate, kind, loving, forgiving and understands individuals who are not feeling well, bed ridden or have lost most of their ability to move around, think or do the things they once enjoyed. I have learned to respond and not react to their change in character. Recognizing that it is the pain they are experiencing that brings about change in behaviors. This can help heal a lot of misunderstanding. What attracted you to being a care giver? My mother and her doctor(s), as well as working as a Medical Assistant caring for patients. I was attracted to caregiving growing up while watching my mother in and out of hospitals and her struggle with her health whihc affected her mentally, emotionally and physically. I was able to care for her during her illness. What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver? Knowing I have the opportunity to do the best I can to bring maybe a smile, a laugh, a hug, or the joy of conversations with those who need it the most and knowing that everything I do, say or think matters to that individual. This makes all difference. What is a personal achievement you are proud of? My personal achievement is that I most proud of is the opportunity that I was able to help both my parents through their illnesses and terminal ill duration. My time with them is priceless, it wasn't easy but it made me a better person.

The traits that help me to become a great caregiver is to be compassionate, loving, dependable, and trustworthy. Things that attracted me to be a caregiver is I enjoy talking with elder people and more so because I was the helping hand for my grandmother before her passing. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the one on one conversations I have with my patient speaking on past life and obstacles they went through in life and how they survived. My personal achievement is I was able to nurse one of past patients back to health in the length of 3 wks to a month

Hi, My name is DeDe. I specialize in ALS clients. This experience led me to my true passion. Over the last 7 years I have worked with 10 different families who dealt with ALS. From stage 1-stage 4. Just because you are living with this crazy disease that doesn't mean you can't live a normal life. When I walk into a family's homes. I walk in with a positive attitude with a big smile on my face to ease the pain of all the troubles they are going through right now. I have worked in private homes, group homes, etc. My desire is for excellence, quality and most importantly "LIFE", and to provide individualized care to each of my clients with the utmost dignity and respect. I enjoy the opportunity to impact my clients' lives in a positive way. I appreciate the chance to get to know clients and their families and become an integral part of their lives.
