I initially became a caregiver when my great grand father came to live with my family when I was sixteen years old. At first it was a family duty but it quickly became a career choice. I enjoy being a caregiver because I love and enjoy helping others. It is a very satisfying as well as gratifying position to hold because you are not just assisting the patient/client with their daily living but you are also helping their families and primary caregivers as well. Taking care of an elderly or disabled family member can be a very overwhelming and stressful experience, so being allowed to help families take a well needed break from their responsibility is a very rewarding position. I began my professional career as a caregiver in 1998. I worked for several clients through the private sector before becoming employed with a home healthcare agency in 2001. During my employment there I quickly became a Senior care associate, which not only allowed me the honor and privilege of caring for patients but I was also a trainer and supervisor of other caregivers. Becoming a training/supervisor is an achievement that I am truly proud of because it proved that I was very good at my job and that I took the position very seriously. I am highly competent and very professional caring and compassionate all of the qualities that every good caregiver should possess.

YEARS AGO I WAS A CNA. I STARTED A DIFFERENT CAREER AFTER I GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE.WHEN MY PARENTS BECAME STRICKEN WITH CANCER I QUIT MY JOB AND TOOK CARE OF THEM FOR 10 YEARS. THEY NOW HAVE PASSED ON. I THEN STARTED TO DO CAREGIVING FOR A COUPLE OF AGENCIES. I HAVE ALSO ATTENDED CLASSES TO RENEW MY CNA LICENSE, WHICH I CURRENTLY HOLD. I ALSO HAVE A CERTIFICATE IN CPR. I HAVE WORKED WITH HOSPICE, ALZHEIMER, AND STROKE PATIENTS. I'VE WORKED IN-HOME 24 HR. SHIFTS AS WELL AS 12 HR. SHIFTS AM AND PM. My grandmother was my best friend when I was small which gave me a respect , and live fir elderly people. My sister was born deaf and mute , being that my grandmother raised her grand children I was the one who helped her care for the kids , so early in life in learned American Sign Language to help my grandmother and other family members communicate with my sister. At that time I knew I wanted to help others who couldn't help themself ! Being a Care Giver isn't just a job you have to have compassions and humility !
