1, My great grandmother was an apartment and hotel manager who took care of a lady that lived there named Ms Costallo for many many years,when I was 5 Ms Costallo family placed her in a home. I went with my Gram Gram to see Ms Costsilo and there was a elderly lady in the hall her skin was so dry it look like fish scales I asked my Gram gram for my lotion and I put lotion all over her legs ,feet, arms and hands my Gram Gram called me her little care giver I didn't like the way they treated our seniors I told my gram gram I would never let her be there I kept my promise when I was 13 she broke her hip I took care of her for 15 years untill she past away see was 100 years with alzheimer's and dementia I also stared taking care of other seniors at 16 I have been doing this for over 20 years. 2. It makes me feel good when I'm helping our seniors live independent and dignified lives in the comfort of their own home. 3. Learning to drive was a big accomplishment for me. 4. I'm a very compassionate, loving and giving person. I'm a board member of a homeless outreach we cook hot meals and give clothing under the cross town freeway every second saturday of each month, I'm over the food clothing, toys and turkey drive for our needy and homeless families for the hoildays I also am in charge of the menu and buying the food. I take my children to convalescent homes to visit with our seniors during the hoildays we bring cards and candy canes just to see our seniors happy and the look on their face is rewarding to me.
I became a caregiver when my father got sick of emphysema. Being a caregiver is a rewarding job because I help people especially seniors that can't perform what they used to do when they are still young. I also help the family to continue their lives by being there to their love ones. Im proud to be a caregiver when one of my resident recovered from an accident that her vertebrae compressed. To see them struggle daily not being able to stay independent, helped me to pursue a career in nursing. I became a certified nurse assistant 8 years ago at a nursing home and I loved it. Being a caregiver helped me to reach out and give as much support not only for elderly people but for those who are sick and lonely. Besides caring for loved ones, I love to keep them company and entertain through singing. I'm a team player and dependable.
