I am a caregiver I have been taking care of the elderly for 6 in a half years. I love it I have a passion for it. And nothing is more rewarding then the one you take care smile at you. And they become my extended family I live it.

My level of expertise is like no other; Effortlessly, I always go above and beyond for my clients. Ever since the age of five years old when my Mom asked me what I wanted to become and my answer was "Mom, I want to be a Doctor because I want to take care of old people and I love them" and of course she laughed. Years later I ended up in numerous occupations, but at the end I found my way back to nursing (smile)- Need I say more? It gives me great pleasure to listen to the elderly. Moreover, their stories are precious and rare each unique experience that "cannot" be replaced (priceless commodity) and most importantly the joy and knowledge it gives me deep within (humbled). Looking back on all my choices I can honestly say that I have no regrets; Especially, since it has mold my life and made me who I am today. My mother would have been proud of me when I achieved my licensed (CNA) and knowing that it does not stop there since I was already enrolled in a nursing program in College and eventually I will go back since I took a long break after she passed. In conclusion, I love what I do and work for me is (never) work since my passion is caring for the elderly (smile)-

A personal achievement that I'm genuinely proud of would be adapting to the elders who are paraplegic, and physically can not do for themselves. Reason being would be because they mentally beat their selfs up for not being able to physically do anything with out someone else's assistance, or my own. Being able to get them out of that dark place and let them know they are safe, and it is my pleasure to be of service to them and actually getting them to believe I love what I do and they are not the slightest bother is the best part! What I enjoy most is spending time with them. Getting to know them on a personal level. Understanding what their life was like before they got to who they are today. Letting them feel like they have a genuine friend and someone there who actually wants / cares to listen to what they have to say ! The experience that I have being a caregiver that makes me everyone's absolute favorite would be the way I cook , clean , and adapt to a new setting with in seconds. I'm a fast learner and a people's person. There fore in a new environment with a new client , it will come as natural as taking In a breath of fresh air. Last but not least the things that attracted me to be a care giver would be , being put in a position where I'm generally/genuinely NEEDED ! In causal / usual work spaces everyone works as a team to get something done. In this specific situation, it's direct contact. The client relies on being well took care of by the caregiver. Which means they look forward to seeing you everyday and grateful for the assistance that's given weather it's appreciated or not, I know my personal care with them is essential to their every day life, and that makes me feel good about my self!

As for what attracted me to be a care giver is I see so many articles and shows on tv showing all of these residents being abused and it broke my heart and I wanted to make a difference so I decided to go to a technical high school were I got my CNA as well as all of my other certifications. What I enjoy most about being a care giver is the smiles I get when I do even the littlest thing s for my residents I am not saying it is always easy or picture perfect but I think of my residents as family members and treat them exactly how I would treat my own family member because you always have to think they did not ask to be in there situation and that is what I always refer back to. One of my personal achievements that I am proud of is I went to a technical high school and got all of my certifications there and now am currently attending a university to further my education while working per diem. As well as currently looking for a full time job so I can continue helping people while also saving money for college.
