After a massive Corporate downsizing, I have changed careers and turned to the Healthcare field. I have over 30 years experience taking care of family and clients, ranging from neonatal, special needs including quadriplegia, to hospice care. The last 20 years have also included dementia/stroke, oxygen, TPN, feeding tubes and post operative care. In addition, I have also been asked by 2 clients to become their personal assistant. This included travel to the grocery store, doctor appointments, downsizing homes, moving packing and unpacking, traveling across country and also property managed my clients home while it was on the market to sell. How can I be of help to you?

I've been certified for almost three years now but have been giving direct patient/ resident care for about two years. I've worked in just about every setting. From hospital surgical floors to Emergency Rooms to Assisted Living homes to Long Term Care Facilities. I will always listen to the needs of your family member and put their wishes above all. I have enjoyed being a care taker long before I was certified and have known from a very young age that this is what I'm meant to do. I plan on going back to school after taking a break to get my RN.

I am a very upbeat and positive person. I feel I was put on this earth to help others whenever I can. I always go out of my way to be kind and assist others however I can. If someone needs to just vent, I will listen while giving them all my attention. I want them to feel they are my top priority, because they are. I have worked with people with mental illness and addiction issue, bipolar and then there are the medical issues....these people need love and someone to be there for them, to spend time with them...sometimes just to be "present" for them. Give them the integrity they deserve and if they are on their way out of this place, let them know they matter and can move on if that be the case.

I've worked with multiple people, that never failed to mention how much of a delight I am to have around. Not only do I make sure that someone feels okay, I don't mind cleaning up any messes. In my spare time if I'm not walking my dog I'm always at work. I don't mention on my resume but I also do help babysit my families children. I have great people skills and I love working in a healthy fun environment.

I enjoy helping the elderly and anyone in need for that matter. I have experience working in in home, nursing , home and hospital settings , assisting Alzheimer's /dementia patients . What makes me a great caregiver is I am patient & understanding. I also enjoy helping others. I strive to stay organized and on task. I became a caregiver for a few reasons but its two reasons that stand out above all. The first of the reasons was to gain some experience in the medical field because my career goal was and is to be a registered nurse. The experience you gather being a caregiver is valuable, immeasurable, and translates to other job that involves caregiving. The second reason is because I really enjoy caring for people. There is no greater pleasure you can receive than the joy of helping someone in need. I am glad to say I have completed my Associates RN degree program. I am not a licensed nurse at this point but that is the next step in the plan. I am a very hardworking honest and loyal person. I consider my personality a great asset because one of the best non-pharmacological medicines is laughter. I like to lighten the mood and am very easy to get along with and work along side.
