Hello! My name is Rocio Whitten and I have been a caregiver since 2002. I am from Colombia and moved to the United States in 1997. I started off as an independent caregiver when my neighbor asked me to take care of their mother, and from then I found my deep passion for this career. For a few years I continued to care give independently, but then, in 2011, I decided to start working with a company to have more consistency with individuals I got to serve. Helping out my clients is so rewarding. I love getting to make them smile and laugh, along with helping their general well being, and keeping my clients safe. I became a caregiver because my mother in law moved in with us a few years back because she was I'll and needed help. I started working with ambercare as her full time caregiver. I enjoyed helping and caring for her very much. It was like I had finally found what I was meant to do. So unfortunately she passed. I continued on as a caregiver. I have worked with many family's in the passing years, with whom I've met lots of great people to care for. Many have become good friends and almost like family. That's what happens when you spend so much time caring for a person, it becomes more personal but on a very professional level. I care about my clients unlike the care you may see in a facility where there are just not enough caregivers to go around. So no one gets that extra special care and attention. I love helping people and I believe everybody deserves to live with dignity and as much independence as they would like.
