I, Shonita Badillo became a caregiver because I love working with the elderly and, sick. Caregiving has always been my passion because, when I was a teenager I cared for my grandmother. I enjoy being a caregiver because, it gives me joy to see a smile on my clients face, and, also I feel I can bring a lot to their life such as understanding patience and, compassion. I feel I have achieved experience over the last 15 years. As I continue to work as a caregiver I feel more confident that I know my job and, that I can relate to my clients better. I have 15 years of experience as a certified nursing assistant. I have worked in a hospitals nursing homes and, private homes. My future plans is to futher my nursing experience. I became a professional caregiver after taking care of my mom for 10 years before she passed away and have been in the non medical home health industry for over 15 years. I have experience with hospice patients, colostomy patients, Alzheimer's and dementia, stroke patients, bed bound patients, those with feeding tubes and catheters, Parkinson's disease to name a few. One family even told me that had I not been their loved one's caregiver he would not have lived to see his birthday! He was a 90 year old hospice patient! What I like best about being a caregiver is providing companionship to the elderly and giving them something to smile about and want to continue living!

I got into the caregiving business when my grandmother and my great grandmother Took ill back in 2014 I provided them with home care so that they would not have to be placed in a hospice where they will be able to stay at home and every since then I just fell in love and I truly think it's the best thing for the elderly to be able to spend time with the living person versus all these different people surrounding them every day who doesn't have compassion or lack communication and understanding of what they need

I have been in the medical field since 1994. I absolutely adore any of my patients. I have empathy and compassion for my patients and their families. I am 56 years old and have worked as a CNA for CRMC until 2001. I use to volunteer with the local fire department. Then in 2003 I took classes to.become a Emergency Care Attendant with the local ambulance service helping them on their scenes. Then in 2020 I was going to start classes to get my CNA license back but the classes were cancelled because of covid. 2020 I did online classes for medical office professional through san jacinto college received my certificate.
