I become a caregiver of my Mother-in-law for 6years, I realize I enjoy taking care of the elderly so I decided to do it and accept the offer of a friend to take care of her Mother-in-law and Father-in-law. I am a energetic, reliable, compassionate, respectful person and I believe that these traits help me to be a wonderful caregiver. I was attracted to this job because it's very similar to what I wanted to go to school for; which was nursing. I later changed my major to speech language pathology and I love it! I, Shonita Badillo became a caregiver because I love working with the elderly and, sick. Caregiving has always been my passion because, when I was a teenager I cared for my grandmother. I have 15 years of experience as a certified nursing assistant. I have worked in a hospitals nursing homes and, private homes. My future plans is to futher my nursing experience. I consider myself blessed to have a connection with the elderly. When I was a 14 yrs old had the most amazing bond with the 93 year old mother of our church and I will never forget her. I personally feel responsible for the helpless ; I didn't know I needed a reason why. However, I have realized it's not for everyone. I take pride in the connection and the ability to bond with a person in need of understanding and compassion. I now consider it a gift and I am humbly grateful.
