Hey there, My name is Melody DeGrave and I live in Green Bay. I am currently a Certified Medical Assistant/LPN. I previously worked as a CNA for 7 years in Nursing homes, assisted living facilities, Rehab facilities and Disabled homes. I have been a nurse for 5 years at Aurora Healthcare working as a float nurse in OB/GYN, behavioral health, pediatrics, family practice and internal medicine. I recently started a new position with St Elizabeth hospital in the heart and lung unit. I previously took care of a paraplegic man in his home for 3 years with a hoyer lift. I would go to his home every morning before work and give him a shower/ get him ready for the day and give him any meds or apply any topicals he may have needed. I loved doing this, I am capable and I am more than willing to help where help is needed. I currently work Monday-Thursday 830:430. I would be willing to help any times outside of those hours. I am a very caring person and friendly. I do quality work and I love to help others in any way that I can. I became a caregiver because I enjoyed spending time with other generations, other than my own, and understanding their perspective. I also became a caregiver because I love helping others in any way that I can. I got my CNA certification about 8 months ago and I have worked (and still am working) 2 jobs doing in home care. I am however looking for another job not working with a company and being a private caregiver.

I became a caregiver after helping my dad through his battle with cancer when I was just a teenager. I am a single mother of three children. I love reading, music, arts and crafts. I feel I sympathize with the elderly more so than the younger population, specializing in dementia and memory care. I look way younger than I am, I am somewhat shy but once I get to know a person we are friends forever.

Caregiving takes a special type of person. It can be very difficult for clients to receive help-- especially if it is through an agency that throws them a different caregiver every time. This job requires that you keep that thought in your mind at all times, and understand the discretion and quiet dignity that it calls for. Being younger can cause an issue for me due to the "generation gap" between me and my clients; however, what I lack in that area, I make up for with a lot of love (and a little goofiness, because that's important too). Although I am newer to this, I have had a lot of positive feedback so far, from both families and clients. I would prefer to work with someone consistently, so we can build a relationship that this type of care needs, which in turn will be less of an intrusion on my client's personal space since they will be seeing a familiar, smiling face. My job is extremely fulfilling, and I often go home with my heart FULL!! I can see myself doing this for a long, long time. Mister Al Einstein could not have said it any better than: "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile."

Skills & Certifications: Vision and Eye Disorders, Stroke, Post Surgery Recovery, Diabetes, Depression, Alzheimer's Disease

I have been a caregiver since 2000. I went to school to be a CNA/EMT. I passed both courses (Nicolet Area Technical College, in Rhinelander, WI) and worked as a CNA until 2018. I knew I always wanted to be a caregiver/nurse of some sort when I was in the hospital at age 16 to have my appendix taken out. The care I received was not great, and something I've always remembered. I knew immediately, that was not the type of caregiver I wanted to aspire to be! I love helping and taking care of people! I'd always wanted to further my education, so went back to school (NWTC, Green Bay, WI) and graduated, with honors(Something I'm so proud of!) from the Nursing program with my LPN license 12/2018. I was immediately hired with Prevea Health in Green Bay, Wi as a LPN. I currently work as a LPN in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. I'm always looking for ways to help others, and make a difference! I am BLS/CPR certified as well.

Skills & Certifications: Stroke, Skin Disorders, Respiratory Disorders, Renal and Urological Disorders, Parkinson's Disease, Post Surgery Recovery, Orthopedic Care, Palliative Care, Hospice Care, Home Health Care, Hearing Disorders, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Diabetes, Depression, COPD, Dementia, Cardiovascular Disorders, Arthritis, Alzheimer's Disease

I became a Certified Nursing Assistant because I have always wanted to go into the medical field. When starting the program I realized is that I cared for people and they cared for me as well. I engage with every person that I take care of as if it were myself or family member, making sure that all their needs and the needs of the family are taken care of and they are happy and feel a sense of relief and comfort when they have the right person as a caregiver. I enjoy every aspect of being a caregiver but what I personally enjoy is making them happy, talkative, peaceful and special. I just don't take care of their main cares I take care of the person and what is meaningful to them. A personal achievement that I have had is continuing on for over 7 years as a CNA and finishing school soon as a RN. I am a very outgoing, happy, get what needs to be done diligently and timley, while still making sure that the people I am around are content and happy with the environment and my company as well. I enjoy getting to know people and their experiences and allowing them to blossom under the correct care. I take pride in my work, go the extra mile and still make time to have a good healthy family life as well.
