I became a caregiver because I had always wanted to be a nurse when I was younger. Also, my best friend/sister-in-law became very ill at an early age and I had wanted to take care of her but never got the chance as she passed away at age 44. My mom also became ill shortly thereafter and I promised that she would never go to a nursing home. My intention was to care for her in my home, but unfortunately she never made it home from the hospital. I vowed that if I could not help my own family then I would help someone else. I love being able to help people stay in their homes as long as possible and having the family reassured that their loved ones are being cared for in their absence. My personal achievements that I am proud of are being with two of my clients until the end of their life and knowing that I made things a bit easier for their families. I've been in this field for awhile, I took care of my grandma who has dementia/ Alzheimer's. From that point I've made this a career most of my work since high school has been caring for elderly and adolescence who aren't able to be alone or do there daily life activities.. I had one group home I worked for and my clients would make me feel so welcomed and appreciated. They would make me a special card every Christmas it meant so much to me. I love being a big part of someone's life and making sure they are as independent as they can be.

Ive been a caregiver for about 10 years. 5 years certified. When I got started in this field it was out of necessity. My grandmother had a stroke and i had no choice. I didn't even want to be a caregiver. After about a year my grandmother passed away. But the feeling that i got from being able to care for her like she cared for me was indescribable. First time I felt i had contributed something; actually helped somebody. Like I made a difference, like i made her last days better. 10 years later I cant picture myself doing anything else. I love what I do. And everytime I help a client or they smile and say thank you its like helping my grandmother all over again.

I am very responsible, very patient,very loving , caring and so passionate in helping individuals. Naturally i love caring for individuals, for example when my Granny was ill, I solely took care of her before she past on. Seeing them happy and regaining their self esteem. I'm proud to be a part of their family and make them smile.
