When I'm caring for my seniors, I take care of them as if they are my grandparent. I never met my grandmother because she died before I was born so that love in my heart that I would have had for her is distributed to each of my seniors. I began visiting nursing homes and just walk into the first room I saw a senior in and I would just sit there and listen to the wisdom that they have and learn from them. For the demented and Alzheimer patients, I would get them in their comfort zone talking about their childhood or past experiences because they felt in control of their mind at that time because they knew and remembered exactly what they were talking about and that would bring them so much confidence and it would bring me so much joy to see their faces light up knowing that they were in control of their memory right at that particular moment. It's priceless. This is exactly the way I am today with my seniors. I love each one of them and it brings me so much joy to see them full of confidence. The beauty of my time with my senior is that, if the family will allow me to love who they love, the connection between me and the senior is priceless and the family will gain trust and peace with having me be a part of their senior's life...

Hi, My name is Maryanne Asuzu. I majored in International Relations. I am Nigerian. I live in Chicago, IL. I love to take care of people and because i love what i do i decided to be a caregiver. As a caregiver, i assist clients with bathing, grooming, and meal preparation. I keep clients company by engaging them in fun activities such as games.Exercising patient strikes out as one of key factor of a great care giver. This skill works like magic for any clients. I believe a great caregiver has to learn how to be patient when taking care of the client. With that being said, I am very patient with any client under my care. I love to help and assist them in any way i can. I enjoy being a caregiver because i love to help people. When i help people, i feel good about it. My aunt attracted me to being a caregiver. When she was ill, i realized how much she depended on me to cater for her. With my aunt experience i developed a hobby for catering for people.

Im a grea care giver because I understand the meaning of empathy. Its easy to want to be a caregiver but being a caregiver takes a lot of patients, passion and understanding, and genuine care. I really dont know what made me become a caregiver. My mom was a caregiver but I never thought that I would become one, its really hard to explain. I love the feeling I get when I can help some one and just make there day better or more comfortable, I just love helping people. A personal achievement that I am proud of is finishing college. One reason I went to college is so that I could get educated on the basic fundamentals of health and human services.

I have work as a CNA/caregiver for about 35 yrs. I love helping people especially the elderly. I currently have a bachelor degree in psychology and work with clients that have ID and MI. I love helping others.

I am a person who takes pride in a well cleaned, sanitized, and a healthy environment. I have always been a caregiver. Caring for others is one of the main things I know how to do and I am great at and enjoy doing. The enjoyment I get out being able to help a nother human being makes me feel proud of myself. The ability to give back to and help someone try to normalizes their lives make me like I have done a good deed. I'm proud of all of my achievements because if only people knew how far I have come in my life, they would be shocked and in disbelief. But, it was people in life that were caregivers to me that help make me into the women I am today. So there's not a day that goes by that I don't think about how I can help makes someone's life a little easier and safe.
