I became a caregiver when I cared for my grandmother with cancer. I realized how much physical, medical and emotional commitment is involved in caring for your loved ones and how important quality of life and comfort care become as we age and with various health conditions. Caring for people is a very rewarding experience and a great way to help our community and our elders, I have met many wonderful and unique individuals throughout my career in the health care field and I am committed to providing excellent care while helping these patients keep their independence and dignity they so we'll deserve. I have 10 years experience working in the field and CNA experience and HHA training, CPR and First aid certified, I keep up with 24 continuing education courses per year, have 8 years of hospice experience, expertise in all levels of care, Alzheimer's / dementia, Parkinson's, stroke, diabetic, wound care experience, ostomy and colostomy, respiratory , nebulizers, COPD patients, knowledgeable in all geriatric equipment, excellent nutrition & cooking skills, cheerful,compassionate, quality care is my goal!

I am prior military. While attending grossmont college, I was the president of the student veterans organization. I thought it would be a great idea, back in 2008, to have our veterans go into the community and help in assisted living facilities and skilled nursing facilities. After seeing how short staffed, over worked, under paid, and how these patients felt, I knew I needed to help. My children and I would paint their nails, do their hair, play bingo, assist in sporting events like the, in-house Kentucky Derby, with stick horses, play music, feed them and provide comfort during the holidays, make mobiles for patients one their ceilings, for the ones that could not get out of bed, and provide comfort for so many people that do not have family or friends to visit them.

My name is Fonyam Kelly. I have been doing care giving for close to 7 years today. Some of my personal traits not only as a care giver but as a person Is that; I am patient meaning that I can easily flow even when there is an instant change. I am compassionate, I am very attentive and trust worthy person. I started care giving with my late mother in law who was sufuring from stroke and when she passed away, my zeal to take care of other people who were suffering from various sicknesses increased and I felt the passion deep inside of me to render care for the elders so I went into care giver career. It is my great pleasure being in the mist of elders and offering care to them. It gives me great inner joy when giving care as a care giver. My greatest accomplishment as a caregiver is that first of all I love doing what I am doing which has lead me into taking the next step in my education towards the goal of becoming a registered nurse. Secondly, I would say my greatest achievement in caring for my mother in law was the ability to give her a happy and good quality life in her last years here on Earth which of course I am so proud of it every Blessed day of my life.

I am currently a special needs educator who works with students and individuals with special needs; autism, behavior disorders, learning disabilities. I have many years experience in working with individuals in home settings, as well as, school settings, assisting them with daily living skills, adaptive daily skills, behavioral modifications, community based instruction and mobility. I been involved with athletics, competing at Cal Poly in the decathlon. I enjoy working out and stay quite active on a daily basis. I also coach football, track and field, as well as, being a personal trainer for many athletes. I enjoy helping other people improve their quality of life and to become as independent as possible. I have extensive experience caring for seniors and I am passionate about taking care of others. I cared for my blind, 80-years-old mother-in –law in Mongolia for 3 months in 2012. In addition to be a blind she has diabetes, high blood pressure and problem with walking. She had a lot of needs in her daily life but it was my pleasure to care for her because I deeply love her. From April to June 2013, I took care of woman who had a car accident in the USA. She was bedridden for three weeks and used a wheelchair afterwards. I helped her take her medications, took care of her hygiene needs, did her laundry, dressed her, cooked and helped her eat, took her out for walks and took care of her other needs until her condition improved. For about 8 months from July 2013 to March 2014, I worked as a caregiver to an 81- year-old lady. She had numerous health issues, including high blood pressure, glaucoma and diabetes. On a daily basis, I took her out for walks, cooked for her, and maintained her home in a good condition. I read to her, became a close friend and helped her stop feeling lonely. I applied her makeup, did her hair, dressed her, bathed her and helped her take her medicines always on time. I am spiritual, positive person and enjoy meditation. I love children, elderly, pets and nature. I personally feel fulfilled when I help others and care for them.
