Caregiving gives my life purpose and with each client I learn so much that it makes me a better caregiver.

A number of years ago, when I was 19, I suffered a debilitating motorcycle accident. And while I recovered fully, over 12 month's time, I learned what it meant to have limited mobility, to have to rely on others for your most basic needs, and that experience has given me a deeper appreciation for those in need of one-on-one care. For some people, a caregiver will be the person they interact with most during the last years of their life, thus making that role very important. I am most proud of having been a mother, and not just a mother, but a single mother. My experiences and the wisdom I have gained from being a parent have been extremely beneficial to me, in my career as a medical assistant. I have been an artist, photographer and birdwatcher for the entire duration of my adult life.

I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician, looking to be able to spend more quality time with patients than I can in a pharmacy setting. I enjoy spending time with the people I have cared whether that be fast or slow paced. I was attracted to caregiving because I'm going to school to be a physical therapist and I also had grandparents that I helped care for, after seeing how much it affected them I wanted to be there for others also. I'd say something I'm proud of is being able to help them through their physical therapy and helping them grow or progress over time.
