Hi! My name is Julie and I have been in the caregiving field for over 15 years now. I have a B.A in Psychology from the University of California Santa Cruz. I pride myself in being a kind, caring, empathetic, conscientious individual. I went to school and pursued a degree in Psychology because I wanted to work in a field of service. Hence, I have spent the last 20 years assisting others in pursuing the best quality of life that is possible for them.

What makes me a great caregiver is not only have I've had more then 20 years experience but I have my BLS and have many expertise in my field of care. I have worked with Alzheimer's and Dementia, Huntington's Disease, stroke patients and much more. I am not only only Exceptional in my skills but I am compassionate and loving.

I am a very patient person. I was attracted to becoming a caregiver because I have experience taking care of my brother with special needs. I enjoy getting to know my clients. I am most proud of graduating college with a good GPA.

I have experience as a paid companion in a job that was brief (because I had to relocate and I had warned employer before hiring). As a stay-at-home mom (before my son moved to college) and also a lifelong pet keeper and gardener, I enjoy tending others and making sure they are comfortable and happy. I have some experience with two Alzheimer's patients (my neighbor, before and after diagnosis, and my then father-in-law). As a long-time copy-editor for an academic publisher (before my son was born) I am also interested in gaining information and ideas to improve my knowledge and skills. I am extremely proud of my son (as a single mom for some years) and gardens I've made as well as the relationships I've found in Ventura (and the ones I've kept for years). I am happy to obtain a background check upon request (and have had several on another website through which I got my Santa Monica job) as well as references upon request.

Although I may seem shy at first, once I get used to my work environment I am very outgoing and will be able to develop an comfortable easy-going relationship with my care recipient. Being able to form this bond with a person who needs care and companionship is what attracts me to this job, it will prepare me for my future career path. This is what I like most about being a caregiver, there aren't many jobs where you are able to create a meaningful connection with who you are working with. A personal achievement that I am proud of is my ability to persevere despite everything that tries to obstruct my path.

My name is Leah, and I am a 23-year-old college student. I have always felt that Nursing and taking care of/helping people is my true calling. Ever since I can remember, I wanted to grow up to follow in my mom's footsteps and go into either Nursing, or a career focused on helping other people. I have a huge heart that is full of compassion, understanding, empathy, and love. I have a little over 8 years of experience now working as a CNA in a variety of settings such as: assisted living, nursing homes, private home care, hospitals, and independent contracting through agencies. I put 110% into my work, and sometimes probably go above and beyond what is asked of me. I am reliable, am a fast learner (who loves to learn as many new things as possible), a team player, detail oriented, patient, calm in stressful situations, friendly, organized, and am able to take on anything that is asked of me (multi-tasker). If ever I do not have an answer or solution to a question or problem that may arise, I am not afraid to ask questions so I know what the right solution is...in other words, I would never act as if I know it all because I certainly do not. I absolutely love taking care of people, and I do so in a personal and professional manner. Over my 8 years of experience working as a CNA/caregiver, I have never received any complaints from clients or family members of clients. I currently have been unemployed for over a year now, as I moved here to Merced from the central coast Monterey Bay Area, a little over a year now. It's been quite a struggle making ends meet, but I want to be sure that the job I finally do get, is one that I will love waking up to go to every day. I am very passionate and focused on what I do best, which is caring for other people.
