I do not have much experience in care giving for the elderly, but I would love to get the opportunity to start working in this practice. As I a preparing for a future career in social work, I would like to obtain as much expertise as I can now while fulfilling college. I love taking care of others, as well as ensuring the best for their health and wellness. I hope I can provide that to someone who needs it.

For most of my life I have been a caregiver. My mother had diabetes and was very ill, with diabetes and heart problems during my childhood. She passed away when I was 11 years old. As I was a, "change of life" baby most of my relatives were much older as I entered into my 20's. I cared for a next door neighbor after her husband passed away and the family had other commitments that did not allow them to care for Anne on a daily basis. I stepped up to the plate and helped out with her care. Then my own family! Two children and two step children ranging in age from infant to teenagers. All are grown now. I wish to be able to give back and derive great pleasure in helping others. I read about your company in AARP and was greatly impressed. I am compassionate, caring, loving and giving, these attributes makes for a great caregiver.

I became a caregiver because I enjoyed working with people who are older in age and maturity. This is because we are both imparting knowledge on each other. Also being a caregiver does not seem like a job per-say but rather a hobby. I have am emotional sense of understanding of other people's needs and respect their level of comfort on what is needed. I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology and also in Human Development.

I cared for my mother in home for 5 years and supported nursing home care for 3 family elders for a total of over 10 years. I am a retired corporate manager (35 years) and looking for rewarding opportunities for the next chapter of my life. I appreciate this 'greatest generation' and want to support them and 'give back' to the wonderful caregiving community that supported my family over the years. I have much experience with progressive dementia.

Numerous experiences in my lifetime led me to becoming a Caregiver. Growing up, I had a younger sibling who suffered from a rare disease, Hurler Syndrome. Living with a disabled sibling who was often in and out of the hospital meant I became very familiar with Caregiving. We also moved to the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis so that she could receive care. The loving spirit of all towards our suffering little girl was beyond touching. Then, Make A Wish sent us on a trip to Disney and my family enjoyed a week of happiness. I was so inspired that in college I have become President of the Make A Wish Chapter on campus. Then, in July 2013 I interned in Central Region, Ghana as a Global Health Intern for Global Brigades. It was then that I solidified my lifelong passion to work as a caregiver. As a young, disabled boy, living in a village, malnourished, wearing dingy clothing, and shoeless, touched my heart, I knew I would commit to a career in healthcare. What I like about being a Caregiver is that I am constantly humbled. I am reminded daily how any troubles in my life are miniscule compared to what others go through. Working with people allows me to connect, also. It brightens my day to see how I can brighten theres. A personal achievement which I am proud of was my internship in Ghana. At age 20, I got on a plane to leave the country for the first time, alone, going to meet strangers, in Ghana. I feared not following my passions across the ocean because of uncertain
