Hello! My name is Valencia and I am 23 years young. I am a social work major and absolutely love working with people. My goal is to complete my masters and become a hospice social worker. When I was 15 my grandpa died from ALS and I decided I wanted to be a care giver. At 18 years old I got my first job in health care at a group home with individuals who were developmentally delayed. I worked a bit in an assisted living and realized that I had a passion for geriatrics. I have experience with cerebral palsy, diabetes, autism, hospice care, non verbal and dead clients. I have excellent companionship skills. I find myself to be hard working and I have excellent people skills. I find 1 on 1 time to be very important. Everybody has a story to tell and everybody deserves to be heard. Whether you need help with meal prep, showering, med reminders, or even something as little as listening to a story or painting nails, I'll be there.

After taking care of a relative . I knew that it was in me to care other my compassion too help people who know longer can help them selves efficiently. Hello my name is Sarah and I am 18 years old, I started care giving when I was 15 at a nursing home that my mother was also working at as a nurse. I am super outgoing and caring towards my residents. I have a very upbeat personality. The thing that made me want to become a care giver is that mother has always been one. She started off as a CNA like me but now she is a Nurse. I have always wanted to follow in my mothers foot steps and as soon as I stepped into taking care of people I absolutely fell in love. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is making my residents happy and ensuring that they are getting the right care! I am proud to say that I received my CNA license during a summer year of high school while I was 16. I knew I wanted to go in this direction for my career so I decided that I would start young.

Hi, my name is Rachel I love helping & caring for others. I went to school for my nursing assistant certification back in 2012, I am not currently "certified" as a CNA but I am still aware of the practices & techniques involved in proper care and I would love to help out with basic care! I graduated from a small Bible college back in 2011, in Kansas city, MO and have been living back home in the Fairview hgts area since then. I live with food allergies so I love keeping current on reading up on them and proper ways to handle them. As well as keeping my crazy very demanding cat busy. She LOVES to play fetch! I hope to be able to go back to school and work towards finishing my RN so healthcare is something I am looking to advance in as a lifetime career not just a "job."

I have taken care of many family members throughout my lifetime with situations including hospice and post-orthopedic surgery. I realized that the compassion and empathy I was able to give others was a gift, what better way to use it than to take care of those who cannot take care of themselves. I have won awards for customer service and for being an exceptional preceptor at the current healthcare facility I work at. At the end of the day, no matter how difficult it was I am happy because I was able to help someone.

I think my personality trait which helps me the most as far as being a great caregiver is the fact that I am fulfilled by helping others have a higher quality of life; as far as expertise related to this profession, I am lucky enough to be very strong and healthy. Enough so I am beyond capable of transferring and supporting even the largest clients on my own. I was attracted to being a caregiver because I helped an elderly woman using a wheelchair two doors down from where I grew up for one dollar every day after school and knew pretty early on that I would like to work in that field as an adult. The thing I enjoy most is typically a witty client along with the wisdom and stories that are shared with me, but I also enjoy the rare but incredible dynamic you create with some clients. I had an ALS victim who I still call my best friend to this very day.

Being a caretaker means being able to maintain healthy lifestyle with comfort and ease. From my experience, listening and understanding to what someone wants makes an enjoyable experience. I can make any recipe that I can read. I have been certified in sanitation through ServSafe and practice healthy food handling.

Hello, my full name is Gina Brooke Canada and I have always been reffered to as Brooke. When I was only 15 years of age my grandmother passed away from cancer. I was the only one to take care of her until hospice finally had to take over when she became extremely ill and passed away. She made me promise that I would do my best to go into the nursing feild. But needless to say life got in the way so in 2012 I finally was able to at least get my CNA certificate and my CPR license as well as my First Aid License. I worked in the business world for quite a few years but when my stepmother was diagnosed with cancer I moved in with my father and my angelic stepmother to make sure that I could take care of her for the last 6 months of her life. Once again she as my grandmother had said that nursing was my true calling so those are the steps that I have been able to put towards a nursing career as of today. I love working one on one with patients because every person is different and everyone has different needs. I do my best to treat my clients as well as I would expect a caregiver to treat my own family. I have learned with my experience to pick and choose daily battles by getting to know the clients because with this sort of occupation some things don't have to go strictly on a set schedule if it means upsetting a patient over strictly by the book activities. I would rather see them happy as well as having some choices that they are still able to make for themselves. Everyone at every age still deserves a choice of as much independence as possible.
