My working lifetime has been in social service occupations. This reflects my own interest in making a difference in the lives of others. My experience as a teacher, and counselor counselor reflects this interest. I have volunteer counseling experience at the Johnston R. Bowman Center for the Elderly at Rush Presbyterian Hospital and have studied gerontology at IIT and Jane Addams School of Social Work. Currently I assist in the care of my 98 year-old mother who suffers from early dementia, COPD, hearing loss and the loss of most of her eyesight. I feel that my own attributes of empathy, patience and reflective listening have been instrumental to my success in working with the elderly. My greatest satisfaction comes from assisting clients to be more self-sufficient and improve their mood when their having a difficult day. A mile is the best reward. I consider it an honor and privilege to make a positive difference in the lives of elderly people and their loved ones who want the best possible care for them. I became a Certified Nursing Assistant in Illinois, and provided home care for many clients with a wide variety of needs. My personality has proven to be a very good fit as a home care provider for elderly individuals with all kinds of needs and challenges. My natural tendency is to be patient, persistent, careful, and thorough in whatever I do. My clients have always noticed, appreciated, and benefited from those traits, which makes it very rewarding for me to be a personal home care giver. I'm very responsible and reliable to my caregiving I take my job very serious... I believe in getting my blessing, you can learn a lot from caregiving... One day ill have me a caregiver to help me...they elder lights up my day I love to help the elder out with no problem.. there is this saying that I use to her my grandma saying ''you better hope and pray you get to be my age''.. And I am very proud of myself the reason why is because I take care of my mom shes sick, and some of her memory is gone... and its like she took care of me when I was little and now its my turn to take care of my mom...
