Hello! I've raised three children and now get to enjoy our young grandchild. While I have a full time job during the day Monday through Friday since my daughter and granddaughter have recently moved away I have a lot of time in my hands and I like to stay busy. I'm a great listener and enjoy spending time with older people so this seems like a good fit, I have a long history of visiting with people at nursing homes, volunteering at loaves and fishes, and growing lots of vegetables for the food bank. Please be aware that while I learn quickly I have no nursing experience.

I have been working as a caregiver for 2 years now with home health agency. I have greatly enjoyed many conversations with my clients and learning both about them as well from them. In a typical day i will help with housekeeping, grocery shopping, running errands, and some personal care with a few clients. I became a caregivier because i love helping people. It all started with my grandmother, she had ovarian cancer and before she passed away i helped her out alot with things such as daily personal care,medicine and things like that. I feel I am a great caregiver because since I began working over 6 years ago it has been caregiving. I started off as a co-op student during my senior year of high school. Upon high school graduation I was invited back to work as a regular employee, a nursing assistant, for Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. Through my entire college career I remained as a nursing assistant for 5 years, when I moved my caregiving skills to a different environment and realm of work. I have been working as a direct care worker for the last year and a half working with mentally disabled individuals in the Lansing and Ypsilanti areas. I enjoy the personal relationships you get to build when giving care and knowing that I play a part in keeping my clients happy brings joy to my heart. I chose to become a care giver because I know my long term goal is to become a registered nurse, and I felt that care giving jobs were a great way to prepare myself for the compassion and comforting role a nurse should always play. A person achievement I am proud of is graduating with my bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in 4 years, as well as continuing chasing my dreams of being a nurse even when my plan A fell through. The road has been long and sometimes discouraging but I am proud of myself for not giving up or changing my goals like I have watched some people do. I am the oldest of 5 siblings so in my opinion care giving has always been something I had to do and it came natural to me.

I have 10 years experience as a nanny and assistant/house manager. Though I may not have direct work with senior care, my daily tasks as a nanny include various activities that keep a home functional. This includes, transportation to activities, grocery shopping and other errands, cooking, laundry, and other general housework. I love doing odd jobs around the house such a putting together furniture, painting, and other handyman type activities. In addition to this experience as a children's caregiver, my parents live with my family and I find myself assisting more and more with things around the home to help them. I would love to start working with seniors because I have an increasing desire to work with adults. I really do enjoy my positions as an assistant to the families I work for. It's always very rewarding when I finish something that I know will make a difference within their homes. Aside from having my son, my greatest personal achievement was being the first woman in my family to graduate from college. Hi!! I am Danielle and I'd be interested in learning more about what you are looking for in a caregiver and if there is a chance I would make a good fit for your family! I am going to be honest, I am not certified with any medical/nursing degrees and I graduated from Michigan State University in Economics. While in college I applied on a site like this for some extra money in school and I fell in love with Bibi (Maya). After her son hired me to help her out a few hours a week as her mobility declined, he asked to move-in with her so she didn't have to go to a facility. He was an Anesthesiologist, so he wasn't able to care for her as much as she began to need, especially at night. I was honored he wanted me to care for his mother, I couldn't say no as I was certain no one else could care for her with love like myself. I moved in and took care of her until the day she passed. I was in charge of everything: meal prep, bathing, dressing, bathroom, cleaning, exercising, bedside care, medication admin and monitoring, scheduling with other care takers, and working with hospice to create the greatest end of life care I could ever give her. Bibi (grandma in Hindi) suffered from Parkinson's and slowly lost all mobility, she didn't speak English and I didn't speak Punjabi but we managed to create our own communication system, I treated her as if she was family. Her son will gladly provide a reference, I was kind of like their family caretaker. I cared for Bibi's home as if it was my own, cleaned my boss's home, tutored his son in college courses and cared for his younger daughter. I was able to maintain taking a full course load at MSU all the while. I recently moved back to Michigan after (very shortly) living in Tampa. I have been an IT Technical Recruiter for the last 1.5ish years and although I have a few opportunities to continue down that path, I really love caring for the elderly.

Hi there! My name is Haley Rathkamp and I'm currently pursuing a career as a cardiovascular surgeon. I was diagnosed with a gallbladder issue at age 18 after 8 years of being misdiagnosed. From that day forth, I have made it my goal to give back and provide excellent medical services to anyone in need. My first step in my goal was working for Sheffield Bay Assisted Living. This was my favorite job, but unfortunately I had to leave due to going back to school. With this being said, I have the experience needed to provide excellent care. I loved my residents like family, and hope to be able to provide the same care and support. I'm the most organized person I know which can be a pain, but rest-assured I will be well prepared and dedicated to any job.

I enjoy helping. I find that it's very rewarding and I know that it's a job that not everyone can do and it takes a lot of patience and caring and I have a lot of patience. I've taken care of my mother-in-law and understand the family concerns associated with this type of situation.
