I've been a caregiver all my life it started at a young age to a family that was very special to me. Giving a helping hand is something I love to do. But another I love caring making sure everything is done correctly like there were my own family member.

I have always felt like caring of others was just my calling. While all the other kids in my neighborhood dressed up like monsters and superheros for Halloween I dressed up as an "everyday hero" a nurse. Growing up I always knew what I wanted to be when I grew up there was never a doubt in my mind. In my quest to become a nurse, I don't want to waste precious learning opportunity while is school so I first became a CNA and then a licence medication aid. Adding skills and helping better lives along the way. What I love most about my job is learning about these wonderful peoples lives, and their families and what made them who they are today. Because at the end of the day its not just a job these people become part of your life to.

I come from a cultural and traditional family so the word "family" means a lot to me. I will treat my patients the same way I treat my grandparents; with love and respect. I have also worked as a CNA before and currently I am an Occupational Therapist Assistant in a nursing home who would greatly like to transition into home health. I would love to work as a caregiver at home because that is where people feel the most comfortable and safe. Although I am a therapist, I do ADLs daily with patients so I am very familiar with it. I love providing care and companionship to the the elderly because I know how lonesome they become as they age and how their abilities to carry out everyday functions decline. I would be more than happy to help them along the way and to help improve their independence in everyday tasks. I believe it is important for elders to have a hobby or activity they enjoy doing because it will give them a purpose and also stimulate their minds which will prevent further mental decline.

I became a care giver because a close friend of mine passed away and I took care of her during her last days, then decided I wanted to help other people. I love being a care giver because of the rewarding feeling you get when you make someones day just by being there for them and going that extra mile. I am proud to say that me and another aide were quick enough to notice something was not right with one of our patients, shortly to find out she had a stroke. I was proud to know we helped her get the care she needed in the right amount of time. I loved working at a nursing home, and I seem to get along with the elderly very well, I never quite knew why. I just always had the knack for it, even as a child when I would visit my elderly neighbor Dorothy. She didn't have any family, so I liked to keep her company and help her with various things around the house. When I was working as an aide I had that same feeling, like I just wanted to help and be there for someone. Except it was with 14 of my own patients instead of just one person. Still a great experience, I loved working as a nurses aide. We are the back bones for the nurses. I still have a valid license, now I just need a new job!!
