After many years as a stay-at-home mom, I returned to work in 2014 by providing care to elderly clients on Lopez Island. Although I had previously worked as an occupational therapist several years before, caregiving was the only option that I had on the island, one to which I could continue to apply the knowledge and skills learned through my OT experience. Back when I was in high school I was offered the chance to coach kids in bowling so I figured I would and little did I know it was going to help me pick my career. After that I realized this was my calling so I went to school for a year at Texas A&M University where I got my certificate to be a Direct Support Professional/or Paraprofessional I am now CPR Certified and I am also Med Certified as well

My decision to become a care giver began when I decided to become a nurse aid and gained all my caregiver experience working in a nursing home. That employment gave me the opportunity to really gain the knowledge of caring for my residents in every aspect of their daily lives and tending to their every need I was able to interact with each and every one and learn how to adjust to different needs be patient, caring ,loving and most of all understanding to all their needs. I learned alot on how imperative it was that I be there for every single one of the residents and how essential my presence and ability to help them was .
