I am a fun and loving person I love working with all people I genuinely love this type of work and I would love to take it further in my career.

My mom is a rn and I was asked to be a companion for one of the residents we were close with and I was her companion up until she passed away, I've done it a few times and have grown to like it and want to take it up as a career.

I have been a caregiver for over 10 years working in assisted living and nursing homes.

Greetings! My name is Kara Thomas. I am a 29yr old Direct Support Professional originally from Anchorage, Alaska. I have been in this profession for 9 years. Throughout my journey I have experienced a lot. My love and compassion for the persons I serve are endless. I started off as a regular 9-5 worker assisting individuals with autism and soon graduated to a live in position at the age of 22 where i continued to hold that position until my relocation to San Antonio, Texas. During my time as a live in I learned to love and care for the individuals I supported as if they were my own family. My duties consisted of the regular activities of daily living that were expected of me, however; I enjoyed going above and beyond that. I didn't ever see my work as simply just work. To me it was my life and my individuals were my family. We all have one life to live and if I can make a difference in one persons life then to me that's living. Thank you for your time.

My compassion for the well being of others makes me a great care giver. My wife sparked my drive to become active in the medical field in which, i am an licensed EMT and LVN. I have also served in the USMC as a combat photographer, have 3 school age children and wife who is eagerly finishing up school for LVN. I work weekends at a nursing home PRN and just loss my client of 6 months 24 hour live in care. Monday-Thursday, Meal Prep, Transportation, Bathing, assistance with dressing, ambulation and ADL's.

I think I' m a patient, understanding, and loving person. I have worked as a Cna since 1985. I've worked in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home health agencies. I even worked in a hospital for about 6 month. I enjoyed that.

I first received my nurses aide certification in 2001. I have held many different positions in the healthcare industry. I have over 12 years of experience in nursing homes, hospitals, emergency rooms, assisted living facilities and home health care. I started University to get my general studies for nursing and after moving to Texas, obtained my Associates in Arts degree instead. I am compassionate and understanding. I have worked in Alzheimer's and Dementia units on all shifts. I love one on one patient care.

I am a caring, compassionate, patient, and hardworking person. I give all that I can give to helping others in need. I truly love and care for what I do in being able to provide the best care possible for all my patients. From a young age I have always been the person who others would rely on for support, assistance, and advice. So I knew then it was my calling to do something in the medical field. I get great satisfaction out of seeing my patients smile and making sure I make them comfortable and well taken care of. What I am most proud of is going into this business as a young woman working for companies then moving on to becoming self employed.
