I been working for over 10 years as a Caregiver and a CNA in a variety of settings. I started this career path with work experience in a Adult Family Home with adults and seniors with Dementia, Alzheimer,Parkinson, paralysis and wheelchair-bound. I then transitioned into a Nursing Assistant Living facility and worked with folks battling early stage of Dementia. Hello! My name is Maria. I am young and knowledgable, lively, a fast learner, time-efficient, and always wanting to go the extra mile for my "family". I am pursuing nursing which has been my dream since I was in High School. Being a caregiver has become something that is home for me. Over the past three years, I have experience taking care of those in a skilled-living facility with individuals who were diagnosed with Alzheimer's, dementia, schizophrenia, and those who were undergoing rehabilitation . After caring for my father after he was diagnosed with a terminal illness, I felt the confirmation that I love to help people who are hurting. I am patient, and have a passion to care for people who are hurting and in need of medical assistance. I love it when I can put a smile on someone's face, and make a sick person have a better day. An achievement I am proud of is when I supported my father with daily assisted activities, until he finally passed, being there for him was the best experience, and I would like to do the same for those in need.

I feel that my level of patience excels my ability to not only provide services but in the best way cause ultimately your moment with that resident is about them and having empathy and rethinking ways to communicate or get to that person's level of understanding is key for providing care. Seeing the daily challenges that he faced and knowing that we had to reach out to organizations to assist him but we were always sent to other places to outsource for his care, It made me want to not complain about the issue but fix the issues in our society. I wanted to make care assistance more accessible for individuals in my community and communities like mine. I wanted to make resources more accessible and convenient four people like my brother, senior, and people with disabilities. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is being able to see the difference that I make in someone's life just by providing them with the smallest gestures that make their life easier to manage. I've learned that sometimes we think these gestures are small but they make a huge impact in someone's life. That alone makes me smile every night before I go to bed! I love to see people's I, especially when you are there every step of the way to assist them and help them back to being there healthy self or being comfortable with their self and others. I believe that great health starts at home, not when your loved one has to be admitted into a hospital or not after something happens to your loved one.
