I became a Caregiver because I had a passion to help the elderly. I enjoy interacting with patients and being able to learn something new from them everyday. A personal achievement I am proud of is positively raising 5 independent daughters as a single mother. I have been a CNA for over 14 years. I enjoy helping others accomplish things they can't do on their own.

Hello, My Name is Harriett Sharp. I am 56 years old and have been working in the medical field for over 30 years. I've had the pleasure of caring for some very special people. I've enjoyed working and providing comfort, care, compassion and companionship to all of my clients. I've learned to "Listen" instead of hearing what I need in order to give my full attention to what makes them comfortable. I have the training and obtained the knowledge/experience need to provide 110% to my patients. I've learned a lot, but patience and listening are a Must. I've worked 10+ years for an agency and 20+ years in private care. (I prefer private care; this way I can establish a rapport and give the best care that is needed). There my duties varied. I am responsible for the ADL's and their daily lives, grooming (bathing, oral hygiene, dressing), preparing meals, doing errands, accompanying to DR.'s appointments, medication reminders, ROM feeding, as well as cleaning/sterilizing equipment. I have experience in the care of Trach's, and colostomy care, incontinence, wound care, catheters and the use of the Hoyer lift. I have training in care for Dementia and Alzheimer's patients as well. My duties are vast, but I continue to learn. I've enjoyed working in the field; providing respect, care, trust and comfort to all. I became a caregiver because I am loving, have a big heart and love the elderly. the thing I'm most proud of is going back to school and getting my CNA license and my HHA certification with my CPR, first aid and AED certification. I am 38 years old a single mother with now a 19 year old son who I love dearly. I have many years experience working with the elderly as well as Alzheimer's and dementia residents. I wanted to become a caregiver because I am compassionate person and care about people. I love to listen and have a kind heart. It is most rewarding being a caregiver because the people count on you and they are able to stay in the comfort of their own homes. My personal achievement is that I obtained my bachelors degree, A.A., A.S. while working full time and a mother. When everyone thought I was doing to much, I thought that I might not be doing enough. I had my mind on that prize and I achieved it. What makes me a great caregiver is the compassion and understanding, loyalty, and determination for my patients.

I have always enjoyed working with people. I graduated high school in 1995 and had become a CNA. Working with the elderly is my passion. I love to help in any way that I can whether it be to help with everyday activities or simply sitting with them to listen. What I can say about myself would simply be that I am a very compassionate human being who loves to spend time with the elderly. I have come to realize that unfortunately there are not many people who are in the world that take pride in what they do. The world has become a very greedy place. Not enough compassion and faith. Began caregiving by assisting my Great Grandmother after she was having heart trouble. Since after that I have cared for seniors with the following conditions or needs: Alzheimer's Disease, Cancer, Catheter, Diabetes, Parkinson's Disease, Bed Ridding and Paraplegic. I enjoy providing assistance to seniors and would like to continue to develop my caregiving skills by providing one-on-one care as a professional caregiver.
