I am 25 year old mother of 4 kids. Care taking has always been my passion. Before my grandmother died I took care of her for almost 2 years. The toughest little lady but i loved her. My mom was burned 2 years ago In a house fire and I had to nurse her back back to health. This is my passion one day I hope to return to school and be a nurse.

I have a passion for helping others, and my experience backs it up. I am patient, hospitable, welcoming, kind, caring, and I'm not afraid to dig in my heels and do what needs to be done. I was attracted to caregiving because I have a need to share my gift of empathy and helping others. The biggest thing I enjoy about caregiving is building relationships with patients and their families. My favorite personal achievement was a few years ago. I worked hard and earned my way up to Assistant Training Manager at Freddy's. But I feel at home in the field of healthcare. It's incredibly rewarding to know I made a difference in someone's life.

I became a caregiver after watching my step-mother take care of her mother, I wanted to help people both physically and mentally the same way my step-mother did. I like being a caregiver mainly because of the actual part of giving care, whether it be helping somebody get dressed or just spending time with somebody. I enjoy helping people feel as independent as they can while I help them. I am proud that I have been able to grow with this line of work, becoming an assertive, social human being that enjoys giving care to a variety of different people whether they have cancer, a broken hip, or just can't remember how to get dressed for the day. I am interested in becoming a massage therapist and once that happens I hope to stay mainly with elderly people, I enjoy massage and believe it is a great alternative to relieve pain. Also I enjoy reading, writing, nature, animals and I recently started to relearn how to play the guitar.

I started to become a caregiver 5 years ago when my grandmother was diagnosed with a terminal illness and had become very ill and lost all abilities to do her daily activities of living. She was a diabetic, had high blood pressure and a failing heart. She was no longer able to walk or use the restroom on her own or do much of anything. She lost all hope and self-esteem. Her insurance wouldn't cover her stay in a long term care facility and I couldn't watch my grandmother go through so much pain and struggle her last years not being able to do anything for herself so I became her in-home caregiver. I assisted her in ambulating, toileting needs (includes changing briefs), checking her sugar level and blood pressure multiple times a day, administering her medications (including insulin shots if needed), dressing, and also bathing. I cooked and I cleaned for her and I could see in her eyes just how much she appreciated my help because she was no longer able to do the things she has done for many years. She recently passed this past year and that's when I knew I wanted to go to school to become a Certified nurse assistant so I can help the elderly feel like they are still worth it to be taking good care of and with a little help, they can do the things they want and have always done, and to know that they aren't hopeless or helpless. They deserve to be taking care of, cause we are all going to need some assistants when we become unable to do things we love to do.

Experienced caregiver

I have recently completed a CNA course at Jeff State Community College where I also completed a GED class, which were both fulfilling achievements. Although I am a naturally caring and nurturing person, my interest in this area sparked when my grandmother was diagnosed with alzhiemer and dementia didease 3 years ago. I have since helped in caring for her and watched the effect this disease had on individuals and their families. I believe that understanding the aging process is the 1st step to being an excellent caregiver.

I became a caregiver because I always wanted to help people and with the ecomony basically going to healthcare, I have joined the crew. I enjoy helpjng others with daily problems and tasks. With being a caregiver you get to know a person In a different way and to understand there problem etc. I am a dedicated person. I love to interract with people and enjoy life. Healthcare is a field I have been interested in pursuing, so this will help me In a big step for the right path.

I became a caregiver because I like helping people and assisting them with their needs. I like the joy it brings in helping others it just warms my heart n makes them feel apart of me. I very much enjoy being able to care for others and provide any help needed. I am here to make living for elders easier and comfortable.
