I was a medical/surgical assistant for over 10 years. After maxing out salary wise, I was offered a job as a mortgage broker/trainee. I became a broker and did that for several years, until the crash. My dad fell and broke his hip about the same time and went into a rehab facility, where he passed shortly thereafter. I experienced such a dilemma, as I lived several hours away and was not able to oversee his care. I believe he died due to lack of competence. That was when I decided I would make a difference for other families experiencing the same problem, and hopefully would be able to give them the peace of mind that I so needed then. As a caregiver, I find that uplifting others keeps me going. I find that some of the residents faces light up when I come to assist them, and that just makes my day. I took care of a lady for three and one half years prior to my current job, who was incontinent. They had to remove her catheter, so I had to devise a way to keep her dry, as she was also non-ambulatory. I am proud to say that she stayed dry 98% of the time, which made all our lives much easier. Creativity and innovation are two of my strongest points and I find that quite helpful in this line of work. My daughter and her family live right next door to me, so on my days off I take care of my two little angels. I have a grandson who just turned three and one who will be two at the end of this month. I now understand why they are called "Grand" Children.

I'm an ex military personnel, served for thirty years and have served overseas on UN Peacekeeping/ Military Forces. I have served 3 years in the Fire Service as Human Resource Advisor on contract. After retiring from active service, I have served in caring for Seniors for a couple of years while visiting the US. I recently been married and I'm a US citizen by marriage. I love caring for the elders as part my contribution to the society especially to those who have served their years in service for this country. Secondly,I have served in the UN Missions and have experienced caring for refugees and those who are displaced due to problem crisis faced in their own country.

I retired early from Tampa General Hospital after 20 years as a result of my Mother being diagnosed with dementia and needing full time care. I took care of my mother in her home for 14 years. She made me promise that I would never take her away from her beloved home and I am proud to say that I kept my promise! Although this was a difficult journey it truly was one of the biggest life changing moments in my life. That time with her brought so many blessings that are to long to mention here. I started working at a Law office as a Manager/Paralegal and then started taking care of other seniors part-time who could no longer stay alone without assistance. I found my calling. I believe with all my heart that our seniors are precious jewels with all there knowledge and wisdom. I have had many instance's where my "friends" have improved after setting up a routine and truly giving them something to look forward to and almost more importantly making certain that they still feel needed! My favorite saying is "There for by the Grace of God go I" We need to treat others like we would wish to be treated it is the Circle of Life.

Remain in the client's presence or vicinity at all times during shift. Provide homemaking services, such as light housekeeping, laundry, meal planning and preparation. Help with activities of daily living, including supervising, feeding, and dressing the client.
