I have been working as a caregiver, home health aid, patient care attendant, and certified CNA over 15 years now I do love it. I get to work my own hours. I'm always available for any activity in my children have going on in their lives and most importantly I get to make a difference in someone else's life, this is my calling and I take pride and what I do. I became a caregiver when I realize, no one else was going to be able to fill the needs of my granny, Granny had a stroke and blood disease but was ok .. I was in Atlanta about to open hair salon with my best friend, Meanwhile I get call from my daughter granny wasn't getting any better. A week later I went home to visit granny as I walked around the house and saw how poorly she was managing, I knew I had make a difficult choice. I walked away from my business ... and put my life on hold. as it were to care for my granny who have giving so much to this world ..It was a choice , but it was also true that choosing not to help her was not an option , Not a choice and obligation to the one we love..
