I became a caregiver in August 2009 for my father, Brian. After a series of tests my father was diagnosed with early - stage of cancer. I have always taken care of my father because my mother was never around to provide support to the family. His condition is still in the early stages, but I am worried about the future. This situation brought my father and I closer. His condition has made me realize that this is career move that I wanted to peruse. I am not a caregiver by career but by choice. I am a caregiver that truly cares about helping others and want to make a difference in the lives of seniors and their families. I am caring, punctual, respectful, outgoing, honest, patient, professional and organized.

I believe what makes me a great caregiver is that I take care of all my patients as if they were my own family and make sure they are comfortable and most importantly I listen to their needs. I first became interested in health care when my mother was ill and needed care herself and realized that I had a real passion for helping others. I enjoy knowing that the family can be at ease knowing I'm there taking care of their loved ones. At Long Beach Memorial I was know as the "sitter whisper" because whenever they had a difficult patient they would alway assign me that patient and by the end of the day the patient would no longer require restraints or was completely compliant and friendly. They always ask what was my secret and I would say I simply listen to what their needs are.

Hi my name is Shannon and I feel the act of caregiving is an honor. It's a great way to respect our elders. I've had All timers and dementia patients. I like to assist my dementia patients by reading to them or we would listening to music. I think it's best to always just following their lead . My previous family mother lost her battle with cancer. But this particular client was special. She was a civil rights leader. She shared such awesome stories. And on the days where her illness just took over I was there to hold her hand and make sure she had everything she needed to be comfortable.

What makes me feel great about being a caregiver is that the client is loyal,and always happy. I am tolerant,patient,humble,able to work with tough clients.I also treat the client like if he or she was like my family.I don't take anything personal.I love my job and I'm patience I'm always nice and courteous I always put their needs first before mine.

My name is Arlette, My journey working with seniors started when I cared for my grandmother when she needed the help about 10 years ago. After that I noticed I enjoyed caring for the elderly and spending time with them. I love listening to their stories and learning from their experiences. I see them and treat them as my family. I am excited to be considered for the open position of caretaker that this company has posed. Over my long career in the maintenance. I began working in caretaking more than three years ago, during which time I have advanced to hold more sophisticated. My aging mother who suffered from early-onset Alzheimer's first opened my eyes to the challenges of caring for an aging parent. I attended seminars, took courses and got my Nursing Assistant certification to care for her. I learned a lot of patience and tactics for working with the elder population.
