My name is Destini, I have been a home health aide/attendant for 5 years. I'm certified by new york department of health. I've been working with patients since I was 15. I went to a medical high school ; Clara Barton and through there I started to volunteer and work at nursing homes and private cases because I love helping people. I believe my best qualities as a home health aide are, I treat my patients and their families the same way that I would want another caregiver to treat my family if they needed assistance. I am compassionate and I empathize with the people I assist. I have kind heart and I'm efficient in the tasks I have to do with my patient. I have a lot of energy and pay close attention to my patient. I do grocery shopping can cook meals and make a meal plan specifically for their nutritional needs based on their health. I do housekeeping, scheduling appointments for activities, program and doctors. The most rewarding experience I had in this field is just hearing a patient say thank you. As a former P.G.A. Pro, i've worked with all age groups 10 - 80 yrs old, teaching the game of golf. To see a smile after a well strick shot.. priceless ! I started in the caregiving business after my Father had a severe stroke. Assisted in all his rehab. Speech/occupational/physcial/aquatic. Soon after i joined the Visiting Nurses Asso. The best part of the job is getting to know the client and their family and how to best assist their loved one. They show their gratitude with many thanks and smiles for a job well done. I know my clients were happy to see me everytime. Always lots to learn in this field, I've continued educating myself, to give the best care possible.
