I am a retired Recreation Therapist with my Master degree and 37 years of paid experience working with seniors. I have much training working with Alzheimer’s dementia. I live locally, am very kind and patient, am reliable, honest, dependable and am hard working. I can provide many activities to increase their quality of life; I also have 4 years of experience working in their home, as I am also a Certified Home Health Aide; I assist them with ADL skills, assisting them getting out of bed, getting washed, getting dressed, toiletting, eating, doing light house work, cooking, driving to appts and dispense medications. I worked with the Visiting Angels Caregiver & Home health group out of Knoxville, Tn for about 2 years as a caregiver. I also helped to care for my mother, father, a sister, a brother, an aunt, an uncle, my husband, and my son. I am retired, but I still enjoy working part time as a caregiver. I can help care for your loved ones, when you need to be engaged elsewhere. Or when you just need an occasional break.... And we all need that occasional break sometimes.

I have been a C.N.A. since 1981 when I was 19 years old. I have always had a "soft spot" for the elderly/sick. I have worked in all areas of healthcare over the years, hospitals, home health, nursing facilities, geri/psych unit, hospice, private duty. I now own my own business, Quality Home Care, a non-medical home care. This is my calling and I am honored to help others in need.

I have held many positions in the health field. My reasons for remaining in health care are many but the most prominent is the self gratification of helping others.

When I was young my grandfather was very sick. He had several Strokes over the years. My grandmother had no choice but to work to take care of him. So my family and I had to pull together and take care of him. We had to do things such as changing his adult diapers, bathing him feeding him, transferring him. But most of all showing him the love and compassion that he needed. He was a very proud man. He always took care of everyone else. He didn't like having other people to take care of him. So we did everything humanly possible to make him more comfortable. That's what got me into this line of work. And that's what I think of every time I go to a client's house. I think, if this was papaw... what would I do? This is the only job I've ever really loved. And I suppose I have him to thank for it.

For me it's the joy of caring for elderly. I love working talking, getting to know new people. I have a soft passion for people. Taking care of my parents is what I always wanted to do so they could stay home. Nursing is my happy place.

I became a caregiver because I enjoy helping those who are in need of help to meet their daily needs.What I like about being a caregiver is known that I am there not only to help with their daily needs but to also listen to them when all they need is someone to talk to. A personal achievement I am proud of is having the hands on experience working with the Dementia residents. It is a experience all of its own and one of the jobs that I really enjoyed the most. A little about myself. I grew up in Northern NY and now have moved to the Harriman TN area. Although a lot of people don't like change I really enjoy it. I really enjoy learning new things. I have worked in healthcare on and off for over 20 years. I had a few other jobs in the past outside of working in healthcare but I enjoy working with people who are in need. I like hands on training the most when it comes to jobs. I feel that its the best experience that I have had in the past when it comes to being out in the work place.
