Hello, my name is Marlena and I have been a caregiver since 2015. I am always helping others so that is a reason to my liking to work as a caregiver. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the ability to help others and spread joy. The personal achievement that I am proud of is that I recently was part of a commitee for the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer walk. All of the meetings and walk throughs, the event turned out to be wonderfully fun.

I spent 11 years in the military in which I was honorably discharged at the end of 2012. I completed and received an associate degree in art while serving. I continued my education while being unemployed from the time I was released from the military until April of 2013 and earned a bachelor degree in psychology. A week later I began practical nursing school and graduated top of my class a year later and was rewarded the leadership award. I passed my state board and earned my Practical Nursing license with an IV certification. I have since worked as an admission nurse, hospice nurse, agency nurse, floor nurse, managed a long term care facility, and was a day shift manager as well as a day shift unit supervisor. I recently completed my associate's degree in science in nursing and am waiting to sit for boards for my registered nursing license. I am looking to slowly transition from the facility setting into private duty helping people in their home setting.

I enjoy people and find it personally rewarding to help someone that is in need. I like being in a one on one position so I can give individualized attention to who I am caring for. I am a caring and compassionate person , who takes pride in being honest and showing integrity in all areas of my life. I look forward to meeting and helping anyone I am able too.

I have a great personality, I am very patient. I always make sure the job is complete before I leave or move on to the next task. I have been a care giver all my life beginning with taking care of my dad when he was at the end stage of life. I dedicated myself to his wellbeing and provided hospice type care for three years. That is where my passion began for caring for the elderly and those who cannot care for themselves. I then began working at a nursing home and gained my CNA, which provided me with greater knowledge of home care for indivuals. I truly care for the person I assist and go the extra mile to make sure they are cared for in a loving and safe manner. I have been working in an RCF that houses Mental Health clients. I absolutely love my job but seeking more daytime hours. I am licensed as a MA-1, to give insulin, and in First Aid and CPR. In our homes, we are responsible for every aspect of client care (Medicine, Ordering, Charting, Doctors Appointments, Speaking with family, pharmacies, and medical staff, housekeeping and meals).
