My name is Nikki. I have been a certified nursing assistant since 2014, but have been taking care of people since 2000. What attracted me to become a caregiver was taking care of my mother for so long. My mother passed in 2006 and from then on I've been a caregiver. I am a caregiver at night for a client I have had since July 8th of 2015. I am the lead at my job, I handle the medications, doctors apts, payroll, firing, hiring and basically anything you can think of. My job isn't a job it's my life, my career. I have helped take care of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, MS, quadriplegic, cancer, amputations, inserting catheters, condom catheters, pubic catheters, colostomy bags you name it I have done it. What I truly enjoy most about being a caregiver is leaving the clients house knowing that the little time you get to spend with them made a difference. Getting to hear the story's of their life is the most memorable. To hear a client tell you that they love you and they can't wait for you to come back .... Some residents at the Assisted Living Community call me Christmas, saying it's close to Carol , my nickname. They said it fits my personality. Willing to give love (as the song goes... on Christmas Day!), happy, funny, full of joy! I have been taking care of my Father who suffered from stroke for 10 years back in the Philippines, being one of his caregivers. I was also his Physical Therapist. We moved here in the US 5 years ago, and I have worked as a caregiver , then transitioned to work in the Med Room as a Medication Technician at Maple Glen Assisted Living in Shelton, WA. I consider it a calling given the opportunity to work there. I am a people person and loves taking care of elderly. I'm a LPN nurse but before in a CNA too in California I challenged my LPN nurse I was in RN program before but I can't transfer my LPN because it accept challenge LPN here. I like caring and helping people been nurse since 2001 as CNA then become LPN 2007 to now.

I enjoy being with my clients! Spending time helping them stay as independent and healthy as they can be is very important me. I look forward to challenges in the work day to overcome.
