First, because of the need and who does not want to feel needed? I do. Second, there is a satisfaction to helping those who cannot do for them selves as they once did. A personal achievement of mine was when I worked with an individual who was non verbal and he had a lot of behaviors and he could be very mean. I spoke to him and treated him like he was the same as everyone else. I cooked a special dinner for him and made it all homemade from scratch and he watched me make the whole meal. When I served him he looked at me took a bite then reached over and grabbed my arm gently and kissed my arm and he smiled so big. It took about a month to get that acceptance from him. When he finally accepted me it made me tear up. I felt so accomplished because this guy ran off so many Direct support Professionals. I felt as though I could do anything because of the wonderful feeling of gratitude and gratefulness that I received from that individual.

Caring and lots of patience can help me be a great caregiver! Helping people and I have a disabled son that made me want to watch other people it helps me learn with him too and his disability's. I enjoy learning something new with them and getting to know them. I'm proud to watch them grow and help them or just be there for my clients
