I started in the medical field right out of High School and I'm currently attending school to receive my Bachelors Degree in Health Care Management. I became a caregiver because my aunt was suffering with ovarian cancer and she had no one to take care of her. She lived in Kern City by herself. I took care of her for the last three months of her life. It was very emotional but it was also very uplifting. I helped her move on and it was a very wonderful experience. The personal achievements I am proud of has to do with my background. At the age of 42 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a double mastectomy, chemo and radiation. When a person lives through a diagnoses like this their outlook on life changes. I want to help people now. I want to make life easier on others if I can. Life is precious and tomorrow is not a promise. I've been married for almost 15 years to a high school PE teacher and basketball coach. I have 2 daughters and a son. They are all adults now and live on their own. I put down 24 years experience because I believe as a mother, you are always a caregiver from the moment your children are born. You are always on call, there is always a problem, and you never stop caring. My parents live in Kern City and I help them out as often as they need me. My mother just had a hip replaced so I also took care of her.

Patience to be understanding that there may be changes in plans, things may not go as quickly as planned, and there may be a little hesitation at times on the part of the person receiving care. Compassion in understanding of what the person is going through. Attentiveness it is important to me when providing home care that I am attentive to the needs and changes that are taking place. By being attentive, I will notice when there are emotional or physical changes in the person I am caring for. Dependability is imperative that I be dependable and show up to provide the care that the person needs and is counting on. Trustworthiness in a position that will allow me to have access to the belongings of the person I am caring for. It is crucial that I be someone who is trustworthy and will not breach that trust by taking advantage of the person.

I have always been naturally caring. It was in 2010 when I felt the calling. 2011 I went to school to get my CNA license. I took care of my daughter who was undergoing treatment at the time. In 2013 I officially used my license at a local rehab facility. It was hard to leave my patients at the rehab facility who I had became close to and loved. 2015 I started to work at Sierra View where I floated to multiple departments. During that time I gain a better knowledge of how to take care and treat my patients. I and now looking to help a family in need to take care of their love one.
