I got started in healthcare at 15 years old. I started by taking care of my mom, as she had mini strokes & had to go to therapy. I would go to therapy with my mom & then help her with therapy at home, then I helped my dad get his stuff ready to go to work every morning. After my daddy left for work I'd take a nap just before going to school. I enjoy being around elderly people, having conversations, helping them with daily tasks & being a companion to them. I've been to school to be a CNA, a Certified Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Tech, Emergency Medical Technician & hopefuly one day finish achieving my RN degree. I'm also a mom of four grown children & I have nine grandbabies. I enjoy taking care of people of all ages. I specialize in caring for people with disabilities & Alzheimers/Dementia disease. I am a very patient and detailed oriented, these are traits that help me to be a great caregiver. As a young adult I watched as countless nurses and cna's mistreat and neglect most of their residents, to make matters worse my grandmother was one of those residents and I disliked the fact that she was not taken care of the way she was supposed to be. After she passed, I promised that I would do my best to be in the nursing field to make a change and I'm putting my best foot forward. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is getting to know others and creating a bond with the patient.
