I became a caregiver because I wanted to do something that helped people. I was working an office job that I hated and felt desperately pointless, but since I became a caregiver I've found I'm a happier person. I sleep better at night knowing I made someones day just a little bit easier.
Hello my name is Anna Caldwell I was born in Seattle, Washington and raised in Portland Oregon. I moved to Austin, Tx 4 years ago. I am the second child of 5. I am a very caring and loving person raised mostly by my grandmother. I started my care providing over 30 years ago and I have never wanted to do anything else . It just comes natural to me , I love spending time helping out and doing for someone in need. I love animals I have a little dog myself. Don't mind helping with pets.
I enjoy talking to seniors and have a clear voice that is easy to hear. I have no problem talking loud if someone is hard of hearing. I grew up helping some elderly ladies in my church and my grandma. I would mow lawn, clean, take them shopping, and provide much needed visiting and companionship. I would also drive my Grandma to her multiple knee surgeries (7 to be exact), and help care for her post-surgery. My grandma is the one who taught me to be thorough in my cleaning and do work to be proud of. She now has Alzheimer's and doesn't know who I am, but I still enjoy having one sided conversations with her about the good old days. I was an EMT for several years with our local ambulance, so I'm calm in emergencies also. I have a Compassionate heart, love people, and like to laugh.
My father was 101 and my mother was 96 when they passed away, so I spent many years of my adult life as their caregiver during various stages of their lives. Once my youngest child went away for college, I became a professional caregiver and find it very rewarding. For 4 years I was privileged to provide full time care for a wonderful family who became like family to me. I am a very loyal, dependable, compassionate person who tries to make life fun and enjoyable. I'm also an excellent cook and know how to be an advocate during Dr. appointments and visits with physical therapists.

When I started out as a caregiver I looked forward to spending time with people who I knew I could share life with as I served and assisted them with daily living needs. It has been such a rewarding experience as I have been able to do this and gain the rewarding benefit of working for and with people. I enjoy the opportunity to be able to help others with their ADL's that they need assistance with and to see them perform tasks independently when they are able to. My patience, the time I spend with them, and my positive energy are a few of my strengths that also help me to succeed as a strong caregiver. I understand that every person is different and at a different stage or place in life. It is a joy for me to help a client and to share life with the people that I care for.

I am a caring, loyal, reliable, patient, positive & trustworthy person. I love & enjoy care-giving, spending time serving & helping --working with families to care for their loved ones. I have had many experiences with my own family members dating back to 1994 as well, so I can completely understand & relate to what other families are going through. Those experiences & my long & extensive years working with many other families over time is what makes me an excellent caregiver. I have excellent work / personal references available immediately upon request.
I just retired from the military on 31 October 2015 after 29.5 years of service. During my time of service I had many elderly family members that died and I was unable to be there for them due to my service obligations. Now that I'm retired....I want to give someone the care that I was unable to give to my family. I have much love, care, listening and talking skills to give alone with whatever else that's needed for the person that I'm providing care for. I am willing to go for walks with the client, cook for them, take them grocery shopping, help them with whatever else they need help with except cleaning poop. I will treat the person that I'm caring for the way I want to be treated when I am in the need of assistance. Before I joined the military in 1986, I worked in a Nursing Home for 6 months.
Originally I became a Certified Nursing Aide in order to qualify as a Primary Home Care Supervisor. As I began to bring clients onto service and place the aides into the homes to assist the clients with activities of daily living my heart was changed by the needs of these lovely people, my clients. Caregiving is in my opinion is the most personal way to truly give back to the most frail of our society. It is incredibly rewarding in seeing the outcome of what some assistance will do! I have been an Ombudsman in Long Term Health Care facilities for the state of Texas further helping be a voice for those who may not otherwise be able to speak for themselves. Being able to assure that a resident has the most basic of services and is treated with respect is among achievements of which I am most proud. I bring 10 years of experience and ongoing education with private care clients. Acute Care, ALS, Dementia, Alzhiemers, Diabeties, Physical Therapy, Range of Motion and keeping clients engaged through activities of daily living. I routinely transport clients to Dr's visits, shopping, and their activities. I am a Texan, born and raised, who loves the outdoors. I am an avid gardener and an enthusiastic long distant cyclist. I am fortunate to have great health and enjoy being able to help give some of my strength to those who need it. Lisa
