Hello, my name is April. I have 20 plus years of experience respectfully caring for people. I have an exceptional work ethic and have learned many skills and earned credentials along the way. I am dependable, dedicated and can help make a positive difference in your quality of life. With compassion and empathy, I will listen and hear your story to understand your needs and work together as a team. Most importantly, I have a kind and caring demeanor and a passion for providing great care. This last year I left my Medical Assistant job to help care for my grandmother who had alzheimer's and a cancer re occurrence. She needed full time palliative care and eventually hospice. This was the hardest yet most rewarding job yet. All my training and skills prepared me for the privilege to give her the best possible care. My goal is to help you or your loved one be as independent and happy as possible with out stepping on any toes. In my experience with my in- laws who live in Ct., I came understand the challenges a family can face when deciding help is necessary. Sometimes this can be a difficult transition for some as they are not aware they need help or just don't want to accept any assistance from a stranger. I realize this is a delicate situation that takes time and patience to build a trusting relationship. My hope is to bring peace of mind to you and family members that you are getting the best care possible.
I believe that everyone has the right to do what they like in life. I am there to assist with whatever my clients interests are whether it be ballroom dancing at the senior centers, scrabble, arts and crafts, music, cooking etc. I have cooked for diabetics and I am into healthy food myself which includes a garden every spring and summer. I often bring flowers to my clients from my garden as well. I have done everything from assisting bedridden clients to working as a companion/caregiver for those with dementia and alzheimer's. I am puntual, have a reliable car and great references. I am an HCA and have taken many classes. I have also graduated from a medical assistant program. I hope to hear from you and enjoy your day!
I have spent many years working in the health care field, it has also been my calling. I took a few years off to regroup after working in hospice care and missed being of service to others greatly. Even when I am not working in health care I volunteered for the American Cancer Society and various other organizations. I am kind and have a clear understanding of what it means when someone needs extra care making their day safe and having them feel secure in their environment. I love to listen to the stories of other peoples lives. I find it fascinating to see the individual and not just their restrictions or illness. I am mature , responsible and dependable.
I became a cargiver because I love working with the elderly and because I love taking care of others. I like being a caregiver because I have a heart for people and want to make sure that they are treated with respect and dignity plus one day I will need that same care. One of my personal achievement is going back to school to be a medical assistant and having 3 careers under my belt. I am a person who love to help others and is always there to lend a hand when someone needs it I am a person who will put others needs before my own needs. I am a very reliable person that you can depend on I will treat your family as if they were my own family.
I took care of my Step-mother who has Arthritis very bad. She was always having joint pains & could barley get out of bed some days. So I moved in with her in 2013, and started helping her out with daily tasks. Showering, nail clippings, cooking breakfast, lunch & dinner. Made sure all her dishes were cleaned after. Made sure she took her medication when needed. I drove her to & from appointments or errands she needed to run. I'm very glad I met my step-mom, because after taking care of her for a year, it made me realize I wanted to be in the Medical field. I'm a very patient person, and I love to learn. I feel like I can never ask to many questions, and I can never stop learning. I took care of my little sister growing up, and that always made me more interested in caring for someone else rather than myself. I knew I was put on this earth to be a caregiver of some type, because there's days I go without eating just to make sure everyone else was fed and taken care of.
I was a caregiver for 4 yrs, well experience in caregiving, i am really good at handling any kind of situation when it comes to clients care. I am passionate and really hardworking person. I really put efforts on my job and i think that's what all my clients love about me. I enjoy talking to my clients and make conversations with them. I am proud of my self and i think its an achievement when i give them the right care they needed and if i make them happy and satisfied with my care.
A great caregiver is being able to understand a client's situation and being culturally mindful of his/her uniqueness as an individual. In that is understanding their past, that you may know them in present, and that you may have a plan to execute of what may come, such as problem solving. In that follows: compassion, nonjudgmental, encouragement, respect, tolerant, and supportive of their quality of life. I chose to become a caregiver because I enjoy and appreciate the job, and at the end of the day I feel good in making a difference in my client's life. "Compassion is sometimes the fatal capacity for feeling what it is like to live inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too"--Frederick Buechner. Also as a caregiver, obtaining positive interpersonal relationship with clients is important and add a dash of silliness are components to a good laugh. My personal achievements are: putting myself to school, independence, and contentment.

I started a new career in medicine after battling illness myself for many years and taking care of my aunt as she passed from terminal cancer in her mid 40's. I think my personal experience and passion for medicine is a key to my great and lasting relationships with patients and physicians. I would like to reach out and help more people and also supplement my income with extra work.
