My start in healthcare was volunteering at the Red Cross, church and community outreach , I have worked eight years at the Washtenaw County DHS with CLS/CMH organizations as consumer advocate . I have been a great caregiver for five years. I enjoy caring and talking to the elderly. I have taken care of some of my elderly family members, which I enjoyed. Hello my name is Lynda Evans First I want to offer my condolences for your loved one. I understand completely as I cared exclusively for my father for 5 years with congestive heart failure, diabetes, and strokes. I don't just do care giving I am a born Caregiver. Everybody deserves respect and compassion when facing life's challenging obstacles. I also have had medical challenges I have had to overcome and understand how important it is to be positive and stress free and not to focus on what you can't do but accentuate what you can. My clients are very happy with me and would personally ask for me to come take care of them. I even had one gentleman who was very shy about bed bath cracking up. I love and care for each individual as my own, and want them to feel the best they can in a comfortable atmosphere. I cared for a lady who started having brain surgery at 20 and she was in her 70's when I cared for her. She also was difficult to understand but with patients I learned to communicate with her very well. I have cared for Alzheimer, Stroke, Cancer, Bed and Wheel Chair bound, and much more...... ALSO: I am very organized, great on cleaning, laundry and cooking: GOOD FOOD not junk. I also do not smoke, or take any medications. What makes me a great caregiver is my heart. I have always cared about the well being of others, it makes me happy knowing that I am able to help people. What I like about caregiving is meeting new people, and being able to do all I can to comfort and help. A personal achievement I am really proud of is working with someone with CP. This person was in a wheel chair for a long number of years, this person gave up long ago. I came in and got to help this person and care for them helped with motaviating this person to start exercising and then we started taking small steps, thru out my years of caregiving with this person. I was able to help get this person out of the chair and to start walking again. It made me feel so good to see smiles from my client and the family because of how I dedicated myself to her, I was able to give hope and was able to see my client do somethings on their own. It is definitely a highlight to caregiving.

What makes me a great caregiver is how I treat people with the respect and love they deserve. What attracted me to being a caregiver is my mom, i watched other people take care of her so I wanted to give the same love back to others who are in need. What I mostly enjoy about being a caregiver is helping people. A personal achievement I am proud of is how many people I've helped in my lifetime with my caregiving career:)
