I have always been a care giver, I was a child care provider for 25 years and knew from day one that my future was in Senior care. When my mother became ill and ended up in a Senior home i knew I had to step up and get my mother home. I closed up my business of 25 years and spent the next year caring for my mother. I noticed immediately that my mother's health and her mental well being had improved greatly, I knew then how important it was for Seniors to remain in their own home, I spent a year with my mom and decided to hire a new caregiver for her so that we could go back to the mother daughter relationship instead of the senior caregiver relationship. I went in to two different home care companies to get more experience. I've helped some wonderful people stay in their home, I am very rewarded in this work and feel good deep down that I have been able to enable seniors to live healthily and with dignity in their chosen place of residents , and contributes to the caregiving needs of my community
I've always enjoy helping other and as I caregiver I can do that and make a difference in someone's life that needs care , understanding and being respected. I had the opportunity of working in private homes, group homes and assisted living which gave me a verity of experience and knowledge. Had the privilege of working with seniors where I was a companion to Dementia and Alzheimer's.
My caregiving career journey started in my own home. I took care of my elderly father-in-law for over eight years. When he passed away and I decided to re-enter the workforce, caregiving was a natural choice. It is a career that fits my personality perfectly. I'm by nature a people pleaser. Doing my best to make another safe and happy suits me well. A good caregiver should have compassion, empathy and a strong sense of responsibility. I believe I have all those traits, along with a generous dose of common sense. I can think on my feet, able to keep a clear head in tense situations. Reliability is also very important. I'm very punctual and I've never arrived late or missed a scheduled shift. I'm also a great team player. I get along well with other staff members and can be counted on to pitch in whenever I am needed. I'm very organized and a good problem solver. I even keep a toolbox in my trunk to handle minor household repairs. Armed with my smartphone and instructional YouTube videos I'm ready to tackle almost any project! I'm also a pretty good cook and have a good grasp of nutritional principles. You can rest assured that I would always perform my duties to the best of my abilities with good humor and a positive attitude.
