Hello, my name is Maria, I am 44 years old. I recently moved to Illinois from California and am looking forward to continuing to care for a person in need. I've been providing care for the elderly for about 3 years. My first experience was caring for my 88 year old grandmothers everyday needs. I helped with feeding, bathing, medications, light housekeeping and was there for companionship. I also cared for an elderly couple, 24 hours a day 5 days a week, for 7 months in 2017. I helped with meal preparation, transportation, light housekeeping, medication reminders and was there for companionship, and anything else that arose. Currently I am working with several clients, but am looking for something more permanent. Being a caregiver gives me the satisfaction of knowing I am making someone's life easy and comfortable. I am proud of successfully raising my three children whom are loving, caring, and respectful, which I think is a reflection on my character. I am looking forward to working with a loving family, and assure you that I will care for your loved one as if they were my own. I have beena medical assistant for 9 years - became a caregiver about 8 years ago after my grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. After caring for her I got a job at an assisted living facility for memory care. I fell in love even more with the field. I took care of 28 residents and loved everyone of them. I truly have a passion for taking care of people. I then started working for an agency with home health to where I started to take care of loved ones inside the comfort of their own home and this was exactly what I wanted. They were inside their own element and comfortable rather than being inside a facility. I then loved this field even more because I was working one on one with Alzheimer/Dementia patients. I would assist them with their daily medications, bathing, light house cleaning, meal preps, grocery shop, doctor appointments, activities. I made sure they kept their minds busy and most importantly comfortable.

I am retired right now. I worked 10 yrs. by medical assistant with patients. last three years I worked in the family with two kids, I have good reference from that family. I do like this job. I like to be activ.

I love what I do to help the people that I take care of. I know that it sadden a person to know that they can't do all the things that they are use to doing for they self. And if I can just make that person feel good about their self and put a smile on their face it really makes me happy to know I can make them happy and feel loved. I know that this is a very trying job, but I have learned in the six years of doing this that patience is the key. And I like to treat everyone how I would want someone to treat my loved one or me need the of help.

I have been in the medical field for almost 20 yrs, ranging from being a CNA, CMA, Lead Tech in a surgery center, so I have a caregiver in some for or another, but over the past 6 yrs I have been a full time caregiver to my 88 yr old mother and also holding down a part time job. I'm looking for a more of a one on one basis with that special client long term, bringING joy and laughter not only to my patients but to the entire family. My most gratifing, moment is in the 2 yrs it took me to get rid of my mom's decubdis, stage 4 sores on her bottom something that not even the wound nurse couldn't cure. I am CPR certified and first aid trained, I also enjoy caring for patients that have had surgeries and need that extra help once they are home. I also speak spanish, hope to hear from you soon.
