Hello, my name is April and I have 10+ years experience working in the Home health care industry, and thoroughly enjoy it! I have provided care in homes and hospitals for a diversity of patients with Alzheimers, Parkinsons, dementia, and hospice needs. I am first aid and CPR certified, a CNA, and have started taking classes to become a nurse. I have had a variety of medical experience such as working in the University of Utah burn unit which required high medical standards. I have been told I am naturally compassionate and competent, especially when working with the elderly and disabled. I value honesty, hard work, and live a clean life style. I am also happy to help with light cleaning, meal prep., pets, and organizing/laundry. During this time of the coronavirus I am being extra careful to follow the guidelines our national leaders are recommending. I have been a caregiver for almost 25 years. I was a member of a religious congregation for 23 years. Our main mission is to care for the Elderly in Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living facilities own by the Congregation. Caring for the Elderly and the sick becomes second nature to me because in my culture (Samoan) it is a blessing to be able to care for our own elderly parents. I love doing the same to others. Last year, my dad was very sick and couldn't walk. I decided to leave the Congregation to care for him who is now able to carry out ADLs by himself, praise God!! I must say, being a caregiver gives me special satisfaction and fulfillment. It is life giving, making other people's lives better. I became a caregiver because I wanted a job that would be meaningful and fullfilling. I hope that as I'm serving that I can brighten others day and brighten my day as well. I like getting to know those I am caring for. I love finding out their life stories and who they are on a personal basis. I like that caregiving I can move around and not be stuck behind a computer all day. I feel its a simple job, but very rewarding. A personal achievement I'm proud of is completing an 18 month mission for my church. It was one of the hardest yet most rewarding things I've done. I met so many wonderful families and people. I formed so many friendships and truly learned how to turn outwards. I have never been happier in my life than when I was on my mission serving others. I am the youngest of 8 kids. Being in a large family I learned how to work hard and eat fast! I love playing sports, doing crafts, and sharing my musical talents. I enjoy spending time with friends and family trying to have fun in everything I do. I enjoy working hard and taking naps. I love people and being a caregiver allows me to expand that love.
