The reason I become a caregiver because I enjoy taking care of the elderly, sick, and handicapped. I enjoy making sure client are safe, healthy, and comfortable and will treat my clients and family members with respect. I started home health aide in 2000 and I have excellent letters of recommendation from clients and my past work history. I am dependable, honest, work well under pressure, I enjoy doing activities with my clients, and playing educational games. I have been during home health aide for over thirteen years and currently working with my current client. I am certified in American Heart Association, Licensed in under the DC Board of Nursing in Home Health Aide and also have a certificate in activities assistant. I became a certified nursing assistant in May of 2000. I have worked in many specialties in the healthcare field which consists of med-surg, telemetry,Icu,Brain and Injury, Rehab and Pacu. I also worked in Hospice, and home health for 15 years. I am currently working towards Nursing degree.

Got motivated on being a Caregiver with a sense of appreciation on the care to the elderly in relation to the care they offered to us irrespective of our appreciation to them . I have 30 years of experience in providing personal in-home care for disabled, cognitively impaired, chronically ill, and hospice patients. I assist patients with daily personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. I monitor patients' vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration. I am a thoughtful and considerate person who takes pride in providing the best care possible. I became a caregiver through the influence of my great aunt and grandmother as they were the neighborhood caregivers. I watched them as a child and knew I wanted to do the same thing. I began by taking care of my grandmother when she became home bound in her older age. For the past three years, I was the care taker for my mother after she suffered a stroke. The thing I enjoy the most is feeling a sense of joy and humility in assisting those in need in conducting their activities of daily living. They are so appreciative. I consider it a personal achievement when they recover and there is no further need of my services. That confirms that my work with them has improved their quality of life.

My best traits as a caregiver is being patience,compassion, attentive, dependable, reliable, flexible, trustworthy. I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one on one interaction with others. I also like doing work that has the potential to make a difference in someone's life. The thing I like the most being a caregiver is making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day better. My personal achievement is being able to pursue interesting, high quality work that has a positive impact. Securing awards, promotions and other acknowledgements of achievement. Maintaining a happy and healthy family life as well as career. And handling challenge, complexity and change.

I have a tendency of going beyond my job description, at work, I like to hear how the patient's day is going and build a friendly relationship with them. By doing so, I know and understand them better, mood wise and attitude. Being a caregiver disciplines me and shows me the other side of people who can not help themselves, so it becomes a blessing to say I help others. I also dance so physical fitness is also one of my passion along with physical therapy. I am proud of the fact that anytime a patient gets discharged, a thank you card is left with my name on it. My job is not easy but hearing a thank you makes it better.

I have enjoyed being a SR Caregiver for 24 years. I love hearing the stories about their lives. It's heartwarming to know I get to share in the lives of the precious people that put their trust in me to care for them in their elder years. It's my joy to bring encouragement and assistance to my Sr's. I am a happy & upbeat gal with a lot of patience, compassion & empathy! Being a Caregiver is who I am. I Love Caregiving & find it very fulfilling to be with my Seniors!

I enjoy working with people and I most enjoy jobs where I have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of my elder family members and would like to help others in this way.
