I started off as a hospice aide at the age of 17. This was while I was still in high school because I always knew that caring for others was my calling. I can remember being a little girl and wanting to help out with my grandpa who had suffered from a stroke leaving him disabled and needing help most of the time. I always wanted to help feed him and give him juice. When I went off to college I started doing home health and helping families that needed it. Every one I came in contact with me had such a great bond that we would share that we would become inseparable. I have been told that I have a spirit that most people need to look after others. It is something I enjoy doing. I love to help others because you never know where you could end up. Right now I currently work at a hospital with rehab dealing with stroke patients. I love it. I just want to be able to give people who are sick or just need the company the proper companionship and the love that they need.

I became a caregiver because I am a very loving, caring and compassionate person who genuinely loves to take care of people and make sure they are safe and comfortable. What I like most about being a caregiver is gives me the opportunity to provide great help, comfort and security for those who need it especially when they need it the most. Even more, I am most happy when I can be a blessing or impact positively on a person's life by simple giving excellent care. I am proud to say I have left a warm and loving long lasting impression on the hearts of people I have been privileged to take care of. People never forget how you make them feel at a crucial stage of their life. My greatest achievement has been to live for others through care giving. I am a loving, compassionate, reliable caregiver with excellent patient care and charting skills gained through over five years of experience in working as a caregiver in diverse healthcare settings. I am technically skilled in attending to patients in diverse healthcare settings which include all stages of Alzheimer’s, dementia, stroke and diabetes and many more diseases associated with the elderly.

I worked for nearly 20 years in accounting and clerical jobs. I had an opportunity to be a caregiver for a 98 year old man that did not want to go to the nursing home. I took the job and fell in love! I went and got my CNA, NAII and Medication Administration licenses. I have spent many years doing in home care and have also worked in facilities. Being a caregiver is not just a job. You have to love this work to do it and do it well. I enjoy helping people and especially if it means they can stay in their own home and not have to go to assisted living or a nursing home. I always strive to care for my clients just like I would care for my own grand parents. Respect and dignity are everything. Alzheimer's patients are my favorite. They take a lot of patience and creativity. You have to think outside the box when you work with them.
