I took Nursing Assistant classes during the summer before my senior year in high school. I have worked in a hospital setting and home health care for over 14 years. I was grateful for the experience I have gained in the medical profession as it was helpful when my son was diagnosed with cancer. Overwhelming as that was I was prepared for the treatment program he was randomly selected to begin. Thankfully that is behind us now. My greatest achievement was raising my four children, three who are college graduates, into responsible adults who continually make their mother proud. Most recently I have had experience in the home setting with geriatric patients dealing with dementia, Alzheimer's, stroke victim and also orthopedic problems. I enjoy being able to bring a smile, a helping hand and a comforting manner to whomever I am taking care of presently. I'm in my fifties but am young at heart, enjoy reading, card games, puzzles, crafts, cooking and many diverse subjects. Am currently certified in Basic Life Support and First Aid.
When I was 15 yrs old I took care of an elderly lady. From that point on in my life I always enjoyed being with the elderly. When I moved back to sc 10 yrs ago and was looking for a job, my friend told me about how I could become a certified nursing assistant. Finally something I could do to make a living for myself and my three children, that I actually love to do. I was thrilled. I became a CNA five and a half years ago and have hospice, nursing home, assisted living and in home care experience. I love being a caregiver because I love being able to make what may be the last days of someone's life the very best possibly and hopefully bring some joy into their lives. One of my other loves is sewing. I also love to sing. I have been a single mom for 17 years and feel like my greatest accomplishment is my children. I have great references
I genuinely enjoy providing loving, passionate, quality care to elderly or disabled individuals. I watch daily input and output of the individual to assure ongoing success and happiness. I can provide grooming, bathing, dental hygiene, preparing and serving meals throughout the day. I can clean his or her home to the liking of the individual. I have explained treatment procedures, medication risks, special diets, and physician instructions to the individual as directed. I am CPR and First Aid certified if wound care or other situations should arise.
